Catherine Wheel was hands down one of the greatest bands of the 90's ... hell, one of the greatest bands ever.

Simply one of the best ever. Chrome one of my all time favourite albums of all time. Happy Days was cracking too!
I was there in the studio audience! We we just a dozen fans that had been invited, sitting on the floor in the corner, off-camera. Hung out with the band for a weekend in London, back in the summer of -95. Having drinks in the sun at Notting Hill, dining in Bayswater, performances at MTV Studios in Camden, Splash Club at the Water Rats. Such a fun and talented bunch of musicians. Best days of my life!
I could never explain why CW were my fave band. They just affected me in a different way than any other band before or since. There was something so perfect about them ❤

I feel the same. The writing and performances were so perfect, and it was like a designer sweater or scarf with a fragrant tea in autumn time, an excited stomach, and tons of day dreaming to me. Sounds fishy maybe, but that was their sauce, whether they like it or not.
Most underrated band in history!
No excuse for this band not to have been huge. None whatsoever - these guys were awesome! Great guitar tones + top notch song writing = wave after wave of killer sounds...

There were definitely reasons. What are you talking about? Ferment came out when shoegaze was big and it was hard for them to stand out, so on Chrome they went more rock/metal, and because of grunge, it was hard for them to stand out, then they kept changing their sound each album thereafter. I like CW, particularly Ferment and Chrome, but acting like they were some unique standout is dumb.
1:20 "My head's in some sort of space where boyhood, boyhood used to be". So brilliant.
There used to be a Killer Live Performance on youtube from MTV's 120 Minutes of Black Metallic but it was removed . If anyone has a copy of it please post. I had the privilege seeing CW Live in the early 90's standing 15 feet from the Stage and seeing Black Metallic played Live was unbelievable it was an absolute 10 minute or longer Guitar Firestorm. I am 61 years old and out of all of the concerts that I have seen in my Life seeing Black Metallic Live was at the absolute top of the list.

@@lewisslade Thanks for posting and finding that relic. I saw them in 1995 and I have to admit seeing Black Metallic Live was probably the most memorable concert experience of my life. It was like a Guitar Firestorm I'm surprised that the place did not catch on fire during it.

@@lewisslade Once again Lewis thanks for sending that to me that was as good as when I saw them at the legendary Metro in Chicago. But you have to love any band that has stacks of Marshalls. Thank you for these CW Relics. Now on a different topic if you want to watch something cool watch Rob's Uncle Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden land the bands 747 at ORD (Chicago O'Hare) when they were on tour

Soooo underrated!
You can blame bad timing. I blame public idiocy. Picked up this CD and recognized its greatness from the get-go. Too bad too few others did...

Blame publicity idiocy on the American side of Atlantic. While Catherine Wheel, My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, and Teenage Fanclub labored in relative obscurity the Hype machine over here was busy promoting mindless drivel from gangsters spewing rhyming couplets to stolen James Brown loops.
Back when MTV played music
What a performance! Would be superb to see these guys tour again!
Great song, so underrated. Matches anything radiohead/ oasis did in the 90's
Sound damn good, really a pity they were so misunderstood and underrated. They came out in a wrong period, as britpop was rising. The song itself was used in the Breil TV commercial, that made me discover it. I remember that 1998 the band appeared in an Italian TV football show (Quelli che il calcio) to promote the album "Adam and Eve" with "Delicious". Really appreciated, then forgotten for a long time and only in recent times in my music collection. They definitely deserved much more.

Otto von Titten Mercury Records really screwed up by not getting them into the right markets. Unfortunately for CW, they put out their best work as that record company was imploding.

Strange the keyboardist is never shown here. A gem of a song, complementing the underappreciated, gemlike albums "Ferment" and "Chrome." Will always be glad I got to see these guys at "The Croc" in Seattle!

Breathtaking, to this day. The first time I heard this song I was being driven around trick-or-treating in the north east of the US probably beyond the years that it was appropriate for me to be trick-or-treating. Stopped me in my tracks as a bloodsoaked butcher, dressed in drag.
They should have been bigger than Oasis.

I was 18....good music was everywhere
One of my favorite tunes from one of my top 5 bands of all time. Timeless and perfect.
Damn they sound great here. Not sure why they didn't get the success they deserved, but I think that this album was too rock for the shoegazers and too indie for rockers. I was into rock/metal and I loved them
I cry every time.
This song means so much today !
His stratocaster just screams with tone!
catherine wheel es una gran banda a reivindicar.
Everyone needs someone to live by....Such an epic song.
