She on the other hand learned the language, changed her faith and adapted to Russian customs. She wanted to get to know the people and traditions of the Empire she was ruling. Can't say same about Peter...
The real-life Peter was a down-to-earth boy, acted foolishly sometimes, and showed his ignorance towards his position. Just a big child with a joy of playing games to be an Emperor. Also, he was pretty serious about marrying his mistress. No wonder, Catherine got the support for overthrow. She was more suitable for ruling the country

He also hated Russia (he was only Peter the Great’s maternal grandson) and was the biggest fanboy of Russia’s sworn enemy at the time: Frederick the Great of Prussia. He also wasn’t down-to-earth, his social skills were garbage and he tortured and killed rats military style.
“Hes a delicate soul.” Yeah, deep inside, because he’s very insecure. But very problematic and paranoid and violent all at the same time.
This makes me so excited for season 2! One of my most fave shows and one of my most fave songs
