I think you need to question what "too good for you means" & challenge your own thought process. He's too good for you how? Everyone's been saying this but that's obviously not the case. I highly doubt she lied because she feels lesser than the guy badgering her for personal information (like an address) after a month of on/off talking. Dude showed up to her house with a whole camera crew like she OWED him an explanation as to why she wouldnt tell him where she lived. People tend to equate cute to virtuousness and safety and it's exactly dudes like him that get pegged as "charming" despite their behavior being off-kilter and creepy, ESPECIALLY if that dude happens to be pursuing someone who's not conventionally attractive.

I always find it shocking when the one person in the relationship says they 100% believe everything that the catfish tells them. These catfish all have some type of major life altering and sympathy evoking thing like cancer, been abducted, they have a family member that just died.... Etc. I just don't understand how anyone could believe so many outlandish claims. By far my favorite episode was the Katy Perry one. The guy really believed that he was in a long distance relationship with Katy Perry. Then when the met up with the actual catfish the guy was still in denial because he said that they met in a different way than the catfish tells it. It was a very crazy situation and I'm pretty sure the guy that was being catfished was in denial. Very creepy!

The absolute first rule of dating is “Never be in a secret relationship” That means also if they don’t introduce you IN PERSON to their friends or loved ones and/or refuse to meet your friends/loved ones in person, or if they in any way attempt to avoid actually meeting you in person. If they cannot make eye contact with you and your friends, for any reason whatsoever (car wreck, cancer, dead relatives, insert dramatic situation here), or if they refuse to refer to you as their lover/partner in front of others, you are entertaining them like a birthday clown. If your supposed romantic interest doesn’t arrange for face time or Skype or a cup of coffee -and keep that appointment- by the time you’re expressing romantic feelings for each other, you’re a sucker and they’re going to walk away with your dignity.

The only caveat I have to this is that there are some situations where it could be dangerous to NOT be in a "secret" relationship, particularly if you are living with over-controlling/abusive parents or something similar. This may be a trouble that mostly affects teens and young adults but its still important to keep in mind. Especially for LGBT community, if one person in the relationship is not "out". For example one of the reasons why I don't use facebook/wouldn't a partner to mention they started a relationship with me on their profile is just because its a lot of easily accessible personal information that not everyone needs to know, and there are ppl that might recognize me that I'm not ready or in a good position to be open about my identity with. It would be uncomfortable to introduce my partner to people who are calling me by the wrong name and pronouns, and might even potentially do the same to them. Dating a "closeted" person is something that can definitely be difficult to navigate but if the relationship is important enough, that person out their trust in you for a reason and it is still possible. But I do agree you do need to be up front and honest if there is a genuine reason the relationship needs to be kept discreet for a while and also realize its not a long term solution.

it sounds kinda messed up to say, but...watching basically every episode of this show the one thing that has been right everytime is, if the person in the pictures is even a little overweight, they end up being real...lol...nobody catfishes as a fat person...it just seems to be an unspoken rule.

Felicia is not a terrible person she is somewhat sweet but has very very self esteem. I actually know her roommate Danielle Smith . Felicia has done this to multiple men and I think it stems from having low self esteem. She has lost weight in recent years and is not an ugly girl she is doing very well and I think though she has her issues is not a bad person just has low self esteem

I think this is a great show because it can teach kids not to be desperate or boy/girl crazy. These people invest waaaay to much time in people that give so little. They withhold information, they seem suspect, sometimes aloof, and yet those being catfish chase them. They have such low self esteem they’ll chase any ‘connection’ and be treated like garbage. It’s never going to work in your favor to chase someone that is so wish washy about you. Be alone if you can’t find the person who’ll treat you like you deserve.

ALL these people that catfish are what society labels as overweight/less attractive or not accepted. The issue isn't about catfishing, it is mostly themselves they struggle with.

I always feel so badly for these people. I used dating websites years ago before they were trendy...when people still thought it weird to meet online. I want everyone to know that, even though there are terrible, awful, evil people who abuse these sites, there is still hope. I met my husband through a random online dating site and we have now been together 10 years, have 3 children and are (for the most part 😉) happy. It's sad, but not everyone is bad
