These were also used in Locomotives such as the Baldwin RS-4-TC-1A,which were all made for the Army in 1954.They had a 500 HP D397 V12 from the factory,but many of them were Rebuilt with a 565 HP 3508 V8.There is one with the number of 4035,which is owned by the T.T.M.,and has been there since 1995 after the Military decommissioned it.It was Retrofitted in 1988 with a 3508,and a different Cab,it still runs to this very day with only over 18,000 Hours on it.The RS Series were all debuted by Alco,but Baldwin had contract to manufacture the RS-4-TC-1A for the Army before they actually went out of business.Only a handful are known to still exist to this day.

The older V12 engines were the D398, and the V8 was the D379. They also made a V16 which was the D399. These older engines had an 8 inch stroke and ran at a maximum speed of 1200 RPM.

@@frazzledude The supercharged V12 that the RS-4-TC-1A came with was called a D397,look up videos of the locomotive,some of them still have their V12's,only 71 or 74 of them were manufactured in 1954,alot were retrofitted with the twin turbocharged 3508 and a EMD cab,but not all of them.Some railroad museums own them.It was a 61 Ton shunt locomotive that had eight wheels with four axles on it.I'm sure I would know because I have driven one before and been a mechanic on one.

Hmmm 1U-5470 engine pressure group has plumped on engine as seen for all pressure parameters. Well for initial start up of all Caterpillar engine after complete rebuilt at my own workshop and on job site. I also don't wear any ear protection just to analyze engine sound along passion of it's new life line ..😉🇵🇰☺️🇺🇲

I wish Caterpillar would allow people to buy the coveralls like you have from other countries. That would be cool to collect caps and T-shirts from around the world.

3508 came in Dozers and gensets I believe

The 3508 V8 was also used in RS-4-TC-1A's that were made by Baldwin while the RS Series were actually introduced by Alco.They didn't make many of them but they originally had a Supercharged D397 V12.Alot of them were Retrofitted,espiecally with E.M.D. Cabs,with a 565 HP 3508.There is a 1954 RS-4-TC-1A 60 Ton Shunter at the T.T.M. in San Antonio Texas,which has a 3508 in it,that has been in it since 1988.The Locomotive itself was not retired by the Army until 1995,the RS-4-TC-1A's were all manufactured for the Military.It still runs today and it's number is 4035,and it has only 18,000 Hours of use on it.

Looks like out of a 777B haul truck, it's an old mechanically injected one. About 875 hp. They used used the electronic 3508 in 992G wheel loader and D11 dozers. In the 777D they out out 1000 hp. Good engine but a pain in the ass to remove the heads since all the manifolds were on the inside of the cylinder banks.

@@TheUberGopher Don't forget the RS-4-TC-1A,Baldwin made 74 of them for the Army and alot of them that were Rebuilt had 565 HP 3508's,they originally had 500 HP D397 V12's.They are 60 Ton Locomotives and the T.T.M. in San Antonio Texas has one them selves,that has a little over 18,000 Hours on it.It has a 3508 V8 in it.
