Raw, 4K footage of intense Category 4 Hurricane Ida as it made landfall in Southwest Louisiana on August 27, 2020. We intercepted the eyewall and calm eye from the small town of Mathews, where we received wind gusts of over 120 mph, perhaps stronger. Many power lines and trees were snapped, and numerous buildings received significant damage.

You got lucky to get the eye. We didn't get a break. We rode the eye wall. We got slammed from nearly noon until nearly midnight. So, about 10 or so hours it was slammed us nonstop. I appreciate y'all risking y'all lives to get the footage though. I know it's rough. But, we're going to rebuild. This is home. Thanks for the support. I really do appreciate everyone that has been helping us in every way down here on the bayou and surrounding areas. From Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. Saying much love to y'all out there

That's the scariest storm I have ever been through. I was in that exact location. Ive never evacuated for a hurricane in my life. I will definitely not be staying for anything above a cat 2 ever again. The strongest eye wall of the storm just sat above our area for hours. 150 mph winds the whole damn time. My house is up off the ground, so it was just swaying back and forth. The wind broke our screen door off, and then blew open our front door so forcefully it ripped the entire dead bolt lock off the door and we had to pile up furniture and sit on it to keep the door shut. Terrifying. Very thankful my house is still standing. Tho it has thousands of dollars in damage at the very least. I guarantee every building and home here has at least that much damage, every house had to have tarps, two story houses are now 1 story. It's insane

It really shows the southern hospitality here lol. i find it was worse than katrina if you exclude the new Orleans leevee giving in. They're saying for Terrebonne and lafouche (I'm from here and can't even spell it right) to fully get powered is on the 29th. And that alone shows how powerful this was. Also hurricane Andrew hit Florida as a cat 4 and now it’s considered a cat 5. Thanks so much for the kind words, Ethan! That’s a great question…I nearly had to retire my camera after Hurricane Laura last year, as water got into the LCD screen and caused it to malfunction. Thankfully, it dried up and returned to normal. To avoid anything like that in Ida here, I had a towel/cloth handy at all times. I would film for little spurts and then immediately wipe it down after. I bought a plastic cover for the camera but it didn’t really fit and was a hassle to use, so I nixed it and was just very careful to wipe it down frequently.

If I lived in any area of the US that has hurricanes I would have a Deltec home or purchase a round hurricane proof home from a company that specialises in this. I don't care if it doesn't look fancy on the exterior, what matters is my home is protected. Why keep rebuilding homes the same old fashion way just for them to be destroyed over and over again, that is what is wrong with people that insist upon living in these areas only to waste time and money. Now this is my first time looking this video i read a few comments and all i see how fantastic the rain and wind sound when you look at this do you just listen and not look at this open ur eyes they literally running in front of the camera there parts where camera has alot of rain drops on it pay attention to the shadow. When its over some water and all pay attention to the wind when the camera falls over at the gas station slow the video down as slow as you can you can spotbit to the rt come up to the pumps stop and ur can see this if you think for one second that mother nature is just fucking thing that just happens cuz clouds form chales homes they have allways been behind the hurricanes and tornados you don't believe me look at any video of a tornado or any natural disasters and if you can see it frame by frame you will shit your chonis or tanga yea it sounds fucking crazy but long ago someone claimed that he saw a frog man in the woods i was like man frog man lmmfao he was smoking some bomb bay shit few yrs go by and download some tsunami videos from 2011 and bunch of natural disasters video anyway long story short as i was looking at the video on a 65 inch tv and slow the down to see the waves come in looking at some terrifying scene so i wanted to show someone the video so i grab my cellphone and recorded like 2 min and as i was recording i noticed that i can see lil thing that i kinda couldn't just like that with out the phone so when i spotted something that nobody would be able to see if they played it at normal speed my mouth drop to the floor that man that said he saw a frog man came to mind the back of my neck hair stood up when i spotted this frogish looking thing eyeballs popping out then just like that the camera man started screaming for a quick sec before he is silenced so i recorded with my phone and did frame by frame i shit you not what looks like attacking man slicing then as the camera falls you can see some sort of rode tyep thing the gets shelved right thur this man and at when it comes out its like fucking bright blueish it never seen nothing like that you have to open your minds they're getting ready for something big thers meny different kinds ive spotted ones that looks like a lil monster eating a women rt in front of the camera during typhoon in nuntuk hong gong if you look at the video in reg speed just look like super high wind but frame by frame while useing my cellphone to record my tv bam you can see some purple mist tyep shit then you can see this mother fucker rip and i repeat RIPPPPPP the head rt off and if thats not enough you can actually see this thing shift change meny time and stop it to get a clear pic and it grows twice and this is happening at frame by frame thats how fast they are so the 3 frame you can see it open its mouth the 4 frame even more the 5 frame well lets just say it took a big bite they use some sort of camouflage but you can see

Wow, absolutely amazing footage. My favorite part was when the dollar tree sign got smacked 😂 I had to subscribe, awesome content! I’m also a weather enthusiast and make videos for my channel. I think it would be cool if you could give my channel an audit. Tell me if you like it and if I should improve something. Thanks!
