mad as kids that we used to catch roach about a pound half and use them for livebaits for pike without even thinking about it, now whne i see one i am in amazment

My second ever Roach was 2lb 2oz, on a maggot feeder in the canal in Wigan. Didn’t realise the significance at the time! Was only a week into fishing

My biggest roach is 2 5 but had a 2 1 2 3 and 2 pound all from the tidal kentish stour back in the 1973

1.25lb eh? I've a couple of rods rated at that, with a legendary name on them. Not caught any Roach like that on them, but the older of the two caught hundreds of carp just under 10lb without any complaint at all, before my long break from fishing. And it's been dusted off for pellet waggler duties this year, with it's faithful old partner, a Shakey Mustang 040. If only my favourite roach spot still had silvers in it, 😢

Great video,, superb roach!! Took me years to get one up in lancs , only a few venues over the years have had them up here , n most are now not open for the average anglers! Ribble or wyreside best bets,,, That amount of 2s is bonkers! 👍

Leeds Liverpool canal is a possibility, I've had them upto 1 and half in Blackburn back when the navigation pub was the hot spot where the stream comes in on the other side of the bridge, I've also seen 3lb perch come out there trouble is it's a dangerous area these days.
