Catching Massive Yabbies And Lizards With Holly
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
What an amazing way to spend a spring day, catching yabbies and finding lizards with my daughter Holly. We put the yabby nets in and then went adventuring with out cameras before checking the nets periodically.
The largest yabby in this video which is absolutely massive, may very well me a Swamp Yabby, Cherax Latimanus. I did not realise at the time and wish that I had of been paying more attention. I was so overwhelmed by the size of the big yabby that I never even thought to look to examine it thoroughly.

Hey Robbie and Holly, love this video and the lizards!! Me and my family were thinking of heading out this way to look for lizards to photograph, any tips on where we could locate some near Urana?
@robbiefishing
9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. They are all around the Urana area. We often find them near the cemetery, and the cemetery road all the way out to Lake Urana is a hot spot. Pay close attention to fence posts. They sit on the top of fence posts in September and October each year as they look for a mate. After that I rarely see them.
@robbiefishing

Also the road from Urana to Jerilderie has a lot of lizards. Once again, look on fence posts, especially wooden fence posts.

14:31 that’s my regular size of yabby when I fish for cod 😂. Yep, I use monster yabbies in the cod season on a 80lb setup. Overkill but fun. Somehow with that yabby size I got a 59cm cod on New Year’s Day so I would call it a W. PS: Hope dad is ok with what happened. I’m super proud to see the baggers make it to prelims. Great effort. They’ll go again harder next year.

Haha no way mate. I would definitely edit that out, but I doubt that she would say that. No while I'm watching anyway. LOL
You see those fence posts were the same type of posts. Where I use to live the bearded dragons would steal Rosella eggs or young hatchlings out of the hollows.
@robbiefishing
10 ай бұрын
WOE, cheeky lizards! Yep, we've noticed that over the years. The beardies will always climb the old wooden posts. They will climb concrete posts, and even star pickets if they have to, but where they can they always prefer the older wooden posts.
Hey Robbie those were some massive yabbies!! I also had a question I went fishing the other day and for some reason when I cast out my line just kept going slack, there wasn’t a lot of current the water was quite calm as it was a reservoir and I had a size 4 and size 6 ball sinker on my rods, any idea why I couldn’t get my lines tight?
@robbiefishing
10 ай бұрын
Hi mate, I'm not really sure sorry. The more line you have out the the harder it is to keep it slack. The weight of the line (even light line) usually causes it to fall slack. The only way is to use a massive sinker.
@nathan-Jamesmaynard

@@robbiefishingthanks mate! So maybe try casting out further?
New South Walesw Riverina, NOT to be confused with the French Riviera, even though it's easy to do....lol For blueclaw crays, some of those were pretty serious units! Imagine if you get a bunch of bait-sized ones out of that water and fish them somewhere with vlear water! You'd get hammered.

What a great day out! What do you call a clumsy Yabbie catcher? Clawed What do you call a Yabbie that's going to have babies? Eggnant Boom-tish We get shinglebacks (we call them sleep lizards) bearded dragons, and tiny painted dragons down this way, as well as heaps of brown snakes. And a family of crows are making a nest in a big bluegum tree in our back yard. It's cool to see the similarities as well as the differences in the places we live. Thanks Bro and Bro.
