Both sides of my family are from Acadia parish going back at least 150 years. Generations of rice farmers, crawfish farmers, and builders. I don’t live in Louisiana anymore but the older I get, and seeing channels like this, make me want to move back and settle down in south LA. The world is getting too crazy.

@johnhalstead5938, I just commented on that above. When I was a kid our parents would take us to the coast and we’d crab with the nets, but I’ve never seen that string method. Pretty simple, but effective. If you’re from that area, you might be interested in this crab catching KZreadr whose name escapes me at the moment. Actually I think it’s Luke McFadden.

We crabbed the way the young man was, several strings out and a dip net. Out of all the places we lived, Louisiana was the one we missed the most. I just found your channel and really enjoy it. ❤❤❤

I got transferred from Start Louisiana. We have one caution light, I didn't bother to count hoe many they had. Anyway while I was there I joined a HOG group, Harley Owners Group. At one of the meeting we had there were at least 350 people inside the building all talking, well with that many people i could only catch some of what the director said. This is what I heard, "we are having cajun food" and then gave a date. "we need volunteer's to cook" so I raised my hand. The morning came and when I got there the back of the building where we hold the meetings has a u shaped drive. The hole area was full of trailers all had signs over them that said sponsored by ... I was already there so I set up at the only place I could find, right up front. All I brought was my propane tank burner cast iron skillet and my pot. This guy comes up and said "you didn't bring a tent, I said no." He went home and came back with a big cover that we put up. A bunch of ladies came by and said "you didn't decorate your tent? I said no and they went to get some stuff to decorate it with, one of the ladies asked where is your bucket, I said what bucket, she said this is a cajun cook off I said hell I didn't know that, I won first place in the judges award and the peoples choice award. I cooked crawfish corn chowder. You probably already know what it is, but if not let me know and I will send the receipt.

Crabbing (with a string line or net/pot trap) is always a good time and offers awesome eating regardless of the cooking method. Love your channel and wish you much success!

So excited for you guys with your new (to you) and larger camp. Look forward to a ton of video adventures this year as you spruce it up (w solar panels and personal touches) and Drake and Tara continues to catch monster Bluegill out da back. I live in San Diego (retired Navy) but frequently visit my daughter and family in Baton Rouge (go LSU!!!) Lived in New Orleans as a young boy which triggered my lifelong love for hunting and fishing...guess that's why I enjoy your channel so much. Think next time I visit LA, I'm gonna have to try my hand at crabbing to add em to the neighborhood mudbug boils. No crabbing really available in San Diego, but my son and grandson and I do pretty good harvesting a bunch of Spiny Lobster during the 6 month long season here. I follow a lot of hunting and fishing channels, but really enjoy Dat Louisiana Life more than most. Take good care.

@@johnbush2798 We truly appreciate that! I'm sure we gonna be spending a lot of time out at the houseboat. We actually spent the whole week out there last week. Crabs and crawfish for the neighbors! Man, that's awesome! I think I would trade crabs for the lobsters. Take care buddy! 🦀

If you're willing to change up a little bit, try adding big chunks of pineapple with you're potatoes, corn and mushrooms. Sweet and spicy 😊. And a stick of butter with your crabs. I do this when we have a shrimp boil.

Gonna definitely try the pineapple! I use orange juice and butter when I do my crawfish. Hopefully we will catch and cook some soon. It hasn't been that great for crawfish lately.
