Catching Huge Wiper In Central Iowa (10+lbs)

Well this is definitely a trip to remember. Broke my PB several times this trip and couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Nothing beats one of those stripped fish that give you a run for your money every time they smash the line. Enjoy the video!

It's a nice feeling when you show up to a spot and it is a) not crowded and b) the fish are stacked like this. What a dream. These fish were built right too. Nice ones!

I grew up in Western Iowa and fished all over the state. No wipers back in the day. Those fish must be awesomely fun to catch!

The fish at 12:28 looked a striper. No broken lines, more slender and longer than wipers. I could be wrong tho? I get into wipers at a local lake. They sure can rip some line! Good video,thanks for sharing 🙂
Cool vid,i have some buddies that live in S.E. Iowa and we go up to pheasant hunt a couple times a year.They told me wipers do not spawn becausecthey are a hybrid which renders them sterile,they are a cross betwwen a male white Bass and A Female Fresh water Striped Bass.We also have them in Southern Illinois but they dont seem to get quite as large as those Iowa Fish.Keep up the good work,i enjoy watching the Walleye and Wiper stuff.

caught my first one yesterday and they are interesting fish, i was trying to get at it for about 2 hours then switched my approach and finally got it
I'm moving to Iowa in August. Where the best fishing close to Ames?
