When you hook a herring, leave it in the water and the herring flashing around will attract more herring to your hooks.

Love the herring fishery! It's a great way to get kids hooked on fishing. There's lots of action and not too much for a kid to pull in.

Good Job😃 Hi, the following statement is not a Criticism, but instead, as a local person, I'd like to share the pronunciation of Yaquina, which is "Yah-Queenah" ! Good luck and welcome 🤩

I live in Texas, and the bait fish common in the ocean is sardines and mullet but can never catch them. I use other fish like croaker as bait.

I ocean fish out of Newport Southbeach and didn't know those commercial docks were open to the public. Certainly wouldn't think they would allow fishing from them. Good to know! Thanks.

do you ever fish the South Jetty? we were there trying squid and herring. not shrimp. I have made a super cool 2nd pole for eel that was very fun to use.. I have a feeling I might bump into you down there sometime.

Hi, yah I fished the south jetty before, seems to be a bit over fished maybe? And during summer time it always facing the NW wind lol. So I like the north side better, quieter too. Yah would like to run into you guys sometime Newport or Tillamook 👍🏼😄

I break the head off in a way that the guts will get pulled out at the same time, then battered in flour and pan fried to crispy
