this is kind of an old video, but couldn't you use one of your sharp knives to quickly stab the crabs' heads before you boil them to prevent pain? seems more humane to me :3 Still fresh and better for the crabs

Living boil ... is a hard thing for EVERY living subjekt u can´t say it´s a fuxken crab ... are u a "fuxken" parasite on this planet who can Destroy every natural enemy with (i took the american way) ur weapon or other ultilities that given by humanity craftwork. Continue pulling the life down but don´t wonder if u got judged like a crab .... What i think is u have to change some sights in your life for better responsibility for u and the World (but i think more for Kids where life in your proper range) where u life cause u are not alone here. 1 Thing forget to say to the living boil it seems be hard to do it on this way but i know , when u kill a crab before cooking ist releases his organic liquids and i trust ya u dont want eat it then anymore.... AND Deer i sawur Face by throwing em in i saw the Pain and it´s better to have some then without, cause without you are not more then a Killer with no senses i mean :D

Dungeness are by far my favorite! To be fair, even though I live in Louisiana... I live in North Louisiana so I haven't had blue crab since I was kid when I lived in Baton Rouge. Beings that was 30 years ago I don't remember at all how they taste now. I remember I did love em as a kid. The one's I've had in the past few years were Dungeness, Florida Stone, Snow, Queen, and King Crabs.

I like this video. The method used to prepare the crab is different to how we do it here in Trinidad and Tobago. We normally clean/gut the crab before we put it n the pot (they are already dead by the time they are ready to enter the pot). And we normally cook our crab in either a curry sauce ("Cury crab") or in a kind of thick 'soup' we call callaloo.

It's great watching your videos. Such adventures keeps people going. Back here on the island of Pohnpei State in the Federated States of Micronesia, we have mangrove crabs, cray crabs, just to name some of the varieties which are also exquisite by nature and taste. Just by seeing your style of cooking and with your seasoning just gave me an idea to go out and find some crab for me and tried it. But we also have our own way of island style of cooking it which is adding some coconut milk and other seasoning. By any chance better, get your adventure here and also taste these crabs over here. Great watching your videos. Ben Ekiek....

I lived in SE Alaska for 15 years and I vote for fresh King Crab. Most people in the Lower 48 have never had fresh King or Snow Crab. Once crab is frozen it doesn't taste as good. But I like all the kinds of crab I've tasted. Here in Oregon it's fresh Dungeness. I spent part of this morning picking Dungeness our neighbors brought us. A couple of crab cocktails tonight and I'll make crab cakes tomorrow evening using my own recipe. BTW, if you've never had deep fried King Crab leg sections with fresh King Crab you haven't lived.

Don't. Lobster is just overpriced, overhyped large shrimp. Just get some tiger prawns or whatever the retailer calls them or, even better, catch whatever type of shrimp, prawn, crab or crayfish is local wherever you live.

Best meat in the claws, and the claws are enough. Do you know, how long a craps need to be fullgrown? The claws will grow faster, then to wait until juvenile craps full grown.

As previous poster stated, stone crabs take a long time to grow. It's best to break off 1 claw and throw the crab back so they can spawn and next year there will be even more claws to harvest. Reason I say 1 claw is so the crab can defend itself against other crabs and predators as well as catch food.
