Catch Tripletail on Buoys!

Well, this is awkward, I left the shotgun microphone on overnight and it died so I made a cell phone video for this episode. I teach y’all how the process works from light tackle gear and bait to properly looking for and finding keeper tripletail on crab buoys. All the information you need to catch these tripletail on your own is in this video! We are in Clearwater Florida and it is late February to early March when these fish load up in the Gulf of Mexico. Below is a list of things we used that you’ll need to have success yourself! See y’all next week and thanks for watching!
Tools:
Med-Heavy St Croix Legend Extreme Inshore
Van Staal VR50
15 lb Spyderwire braid
30 lb Seagaur Flouro
1/0 mustard circle hook
Medium size shrimp
Small float
Hells Bay Marquesa

Off shore in a flats boat! Bold. I have a 18ft Mako flats boat and I'm always scared lol. What were the winds like?

Pick the right days and you’ll be fine. I always tell offshore guides where I’m at and always have a plb on the boat

Curious as to where he came from. My son caught one last year that was tagged almost 2 years prior at 14” when he caught him he was 26.5”.

I'll give you a like for the video, but I wanted to see you measure it,record the tag info and let it go. This is how we learn about them. I've tagged hundreds of fish and have had lots recaptured and even have one I tagged caught in front of me a year after I caught it. If you really need food then keep it, but still send the capture details into the research guy's. You are allowed to keep tagged fish if in the legal size range but it's better for all fishing people to just measure, record location and date, then release them if possible.

Fall and spring when the water temps fall and rise are best. They are always there though year round
