What’s Catch me if you can about?
Based on a true story, this classic movie directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the tale of Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young man who successfully managed by the age of 21 to con millions of dollars by pretending to be a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor, and a Louisiana parish prosecutor. Tracked for years by obsessed FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), the young mastermind was able to slip through his fingers multiple times, enjoying himself in the process. The con artist's foremost crime was check fraud which he carried out so expertly that by the end of the movie he gets recruited by the FBI to help them with check forgery cases.

    Leo's acting style is incredibly clever. He uses his eyes to portray feelings of his character rather than just his body language and voice. Like how Clint Eastwood was so soft spoken that you needed to really focus when he spoke. We really focus on Leo's eyes to try to guess how he is feeling. And as humans 80% of our interactions with eachother is done with our eyes. That's what Leo uses to psychologically trap us into the movie. It's a very clever way to act.

  • @PhilipClyde

    @PhilipClyde

    Жыл бұрын

    While true, you can literally say this about any good actor. Everyone is automatically really watching someone's eyes while watching a movie, so it would make sense that anyone seen as a good actor would really use their eyes to communicate emotions. Talented acting style, but not clever, as it's done by thousands of actors before and after.

    @@CodaMission might not have been standard for regular police everywhere but the fbi 100% had the capability Edgar Hoover was big on science based investigation and fingerprinting and others too. considering how we started accepting them as valid evidence in court as early as 1911 in the US. India in 1850 or so had a iirc government funded dedicated department made for fingerprinting . the FBI's first crime science lab was around in the 20s-30s actually existed before the FBI and they were still just the Bureau of Investigation and started off with doing latent fingerprints and typewriter print analysis. Calvin Goddard pioneered modern forensics in his Chicago based scientific crime investigation lab while ballistic forensics was started in the 1800s with bullet matching by a different Goddard. While forensics in general has been studied/practiced/passed down for hundreds of years before that back in the 1700s they recovered a torn off piece of newspaper that was used as wadding for a black powder pistol from the fatal gunshot victims head, and at some point found a piece with a matching tear in the pocket of their suspect and used that as evidence to get a conviction. similar medical forensics techniques, procedures and guidelines etc to today were written down by likely the first medical forensics scientist in history. A Chinese man who much like the ones of today likey testified as an expert and was was a judge/doctor/jailer "director of supervision". He understood the dangers of bias, methods for discerning time and method of death, a section on determining suicide/accident/homicide, and even how to handle evidence along it's chain of custody/securing it and how important it is to maintain it's integrity and that's as early as the 13th century . So not sure where you got the "forensics wasn't a thing yet" idea from, hell this movies set in the 60s. On a timeline with the year 1964 in the middle the start of using fingerprints is something like 3 times as many years in the past as them using full DNA analysis was years away in the future.
