I have become a bit obsessed with takedowns since getting into BJJ. I am seriously gonna work on this one. Thank you.

Good obsession to have. Too many BJJ practitioners ignore that important part of grappling. You have to get your opponent to the ground to be able to apply your BJJ. Owen does it the best 👌🏾

Use the same intro but pull his shoulder into your chest and bring the back of your neck under his chin. Drop your weight as you pull the lat and block his near leg with your same side leg. He will go to his back and try to roll away from you but freeze tightly on his trapped arm. Eventually, when he jailbreaks back into you, go to a North / South head and arm position for a fall (wrestling) or triangle choke (BJJ). I call it the DaDa.

This looks great for BJJ in Gi, but would never work in wrestling. There are several places where you just assume that because your hand is on something, they will not be able to pull it away.

I use basically this same move in folkstyle and freestyle wrestling, ALL of the time. It will also work in Greco but I don't normally do Greco.

@@drdotter What this move called in wrestling?

  • @drdotter

@@gogobabe3079 I believe it's called a Bent Arm Lat (for lateral) drop. I didn't know its real name until about two months ago but it has slipped my mind. I call it the Da Da which is Russian for yes yes. Da Da is a word-play on my first and last name. From another post of mine: Use the same intro but pull his shoulder into your chest and bring the back of your neck under his chin. Drop your weight as you pull the lat and block his near leg with your same side leg. He will go to his back and try to roll away from you but freeze tightly on his trapped arm. Best counter to a wrestler I've ever found was tawara gaeshi.
