Speaking of the entire "Mixing everything in the minibar together" analogy, I have a bit of a story. We started making homemade burgers some months back as a dinner meal. My dad and I have since been competing to make the biggest, grandest and most delicious burger possible. (Egg, meat, blue cheese, cheddar cheese, condiments and a toasted bun usually does the trick) I wanted to put sauce/condiments on my burgers, but I wasn't sure which ones to use... and so I quickly discovered the absolute joy of taking *every* sauce from the fridge and putting it all into the burger. I'm talking Ketchup, BBQ sauce, smokey baconnaise, burger sauce, mayonnaise and yellow honey mustard. Words cannot describe the pure euphoria I get when I sink my teeth into the middle of such a burger. Since I discovered the creation of what I coined to be the "Condiment Burger", every time I have a meal which is even remotely suitable for condiments, I bring out a tray containing the whole gang to mix and match different tastes to see which is the best. The best taste usually comes from all of them at once. Meanwhile, family look in horror as I mix all of these delicious ingredients together into a fabulously colourful concoction. I look back at them thinking, "This is amazing. Why on Earth would you refuse this?"

This series is the push I needed to get out of my 1 year art block. Here's my story, if you care to hear it :) Last summer I was accepted into a competitive college summer program. I was so proud of myself, sometimes I still look at the email that says "Congratulations! You've made it to our summer session!" for a smile. My mom saw me off at the airport - I was flying by myself for the first time. My adrenaline was pumping for the entire flight while I doodled whatever came to mind in my sketchbook. Once I got there, I had never felt more creative and happy in my life. Art classes all day, museum trips, and new people to meet. But a week into the program I realized that living here wasn't for me. Mainly because of the people. I got robbed by one of my roommates, most of the students had a disrespectful attitude, and the teachers all seemed to care more about talking politics than art. The art history teacher didn't tell us that there was a VAN GOGH in the museum we were at. I happened to stumble upon it when he let us off on our own for a short while. It was incredible, like an out of body experience. My favorite historical artist *painted* that with his own hands. And I was looking at it. Alone. I later asked him why he didn't show us this on our tour, and he said he "didn't want us being influenced by some white male artist" Thats just one example. Not to mention that on top of the craziness at the school, I had spent about 6 months working non stop on my portfolio leading up to the program to even make it. Pair that with these two weeks of intense work to pump out a five page comic, and I left feeling burnt out. I came back home to the middle of nowhere, back to the land of no electricity, no running water, no museums, no art classes, no magic. And I felt empty. Like something had died inside of me, and I left it back at that art college. It felt like clouds came over my creativity sun, and its been raining ever since. I do still make art from time to time, but its felt exhausting and dull ever since. This series has helped me realize that I can't give up. I need to learn to make art in the rain, to splash in the puddles of creativity like a little kid again. Ive already contacted my college that I'm going to in the fall to switch my major back to art. I'm going to have fun with my art. I'm going to try harder every day, and I know that lovely feeling I had on the plane will come back to me with time. Thank you exurb1a.

This channel is something else I just can't explain this. The main channel inspires me in a different way, it makes me think about the grand things and the future. But this one actually makes me sit down and really think about the now, this series really got me back into writing that stupid book about AI and a corrupt dystopian society. I got lost in trying to make it as good as possible too soon and it stopped being fun. Just because of this I will write something extremely stupid that's fun, so writing becomes a hobby again not a chore.

I don't know why, but everytime I watch your videos I always get a little hyped. No matter what mood I had felt before, there's just something in your voice and your choice of words that makes me feel at home. Nowadays, people mostly find satisfaction at dancing in front of their phones and posting them online, or they like watching people who do. I've never been a fan of those things, and because of that I've been classified as weird. And since I'm weird I mostly stay to myself. Your videos have created a safe haven for people like me. And even though you probably wouldn'y see this, I just wanna say thank you for continuing to bless us with your art and creativity. I don't know what I would be right now if it wasn't for you and your clever jokes. I wish only the best for you. I hope you continue to make unique and inspiring content for this world, specially in these dire situations where it seems like all hope is lost. Sincerely, A very awkward teenager.

You know, somewhere deep down I already knew all you're saying in this series, and basically exactly worked this way whenever the black hole of mundanity loosened it's gravitational pull enough for the tides of the sublime to sweep in. I guess the struggle lies in somehow generating your own tides when the magic has recessed back into the ocean of "Not today" However I'll achieve that in the future, for now I'm just grateful for the waves you're making by dropping these into that weird collective ocean of thoughts we all share. So thank you Urbie, have a wonderful day.

I love your videos. I am currently a teacher working in IT (with a masters degree in IT, true but at at heart I am a teacher and always will be) and I love nothing more than when I get to do what I love - teach users in our systems, teach colleagues how to do presentations, teach municipalities how to interact with systems, teach suppliers how to do their job(!). All that filling out forms, taking deep dives into obscure instances and learning the intricacies of token handling means jack to me and I can feel myself yearning towards what makes my job fun when it is absent. I am at least twice as productive when I am having fun - and probably more so. And when I am having fun, is also when I enter adventure mode.

This is possibly one of the most helpful videos I have found about art. We live in a culture of criticism and critical thinking which might be necessary for alot of things but it's not necessary in art, atleast not the start of it. I can't count how many times I have thrown out a project because I started taking it "too seriously" rather just finishing it and seeing what I can do with it later. Let chaos be a part of life essentially, routines are tools to enjoy choas and not tools to control it. If you control choas life becomes dull immediately. Thank you so much for teaching me something like this.

You know, I really needed to hear all of this podcast. I have been stuck in the mundane. To keep my SO happy. I exercise, cook, clean, work and do laundry. It makes him happy. It makes me think I am happy. I am not. I want to write, play my piano or organ, paint but most of all feel and live. I am not a Stepford wife. I am alive. And I am in pain. But you know what? It inspires me. The pain inspires me. I just forgot how to channel it. But I had some wine, listened to this video and now I will draw my ideas out. You are such an inspiration and thank you for that. Felt drunk, might delete later. Xoxo. Lol.

You have no idea, kind turtle, how much this video made me open my fucking eyes. The eyes who've been stapled shut so very long ago. Now I have "grown up" really quickly in my life. By that I mean, I talked as an adult since I was 9 and they talked to me like I was an adult since I was 10. And that kid you were talking about was chained behind without any input. I didn't allow myself to have fun. Not like I should in the very least. Since a bit ago, as I am still just a kid, I have felt the urge to make. Write books, draw for hours upon hours without end, try theatre to express myself. In the end I mostly stuck with drawing yet I want to write from time to time. And well, for a solid while I knew that I wanted to do that, yet nothing let me. I took it too seriously. I looked at it in the way most adults would. As a serious job. As my future money making job. And I didn't let the kid inside me play around. And well taking art seriously to the point where you shouldn't have fun is a Very stupid thing I have tried to do, and am just now realizing it. At some tiny bits in time I could draw, and it was relieving, and it made me happy, but at others I'd just stare into a blank canvas, wishing to die because every idea sucked so bad. And I always just thought of it as an artblock. I heard of them all the time after all. They are supposed to be temporary. But mine kept going. Months and months were passing and I couldn't draw what I wanted. And it was in a weird way an artblock. But not the normal one. I now see what I've actually done. I've shut down the kid in the second it started having fun and took it as an adult. Because it had to be great. What's the point if it wasn't? If I wanna do this I need to take it seriously. And there, I've tried that kid into a corner and yelled at it to never come out. Now I come to the realisation, that I was being the stupidest person I could've been. Unless my writing wasnt good enough to be published it was shitty. Unless my art pieces weren't worth a job at Disney they sucked. And I didn't let myself take it as a fun thing. I forced myself to make it a job, thinking i could make it feel just as pleasant when it was done. And that made me unable to draw anything but a sketch of a palm. So I just want to thank you, mister wise turtle, for making me realize that I need to stop being a grumpy adult, atleast while I'm barely 14 in actuality, not 76. Thank you for opening my eyes and showing me that I shouldn't give up on what I like, since I was on a verge to do exactly that, and to go become a doctor or something. thank you. I doubt you'll read this, but thank you. Thank you for showing me I shouldn't give up. Thank you.

there's a web comic artist called loading artist, who once said "the more opportunities you have to do something that makes your heart flutter and your stomach die, the better. the last thing you want is to live a life where nothing like that ever happens." and it quite captures the essence of this video. go be weird, do reckless shit - you won't regret it. most ideas are born when you live, not just survive.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've always been interested in writing, but because of you, after your first podcast, I started writing my own story. Today after this podcast I finally decided to sit down and think some more. for nearly 15 minutes I sat with ending up at dead ends. finally after half an hour did I get a really good change to the story in my mind. Now 3 and a half hours later, my short story has gotten a strong skeleton and I'm finally ready to write away, though it's presently seems to be much too long for a short story, but much too short for an individual book. Also I've done so much world building in my excitement that I don't think I'll be able to include most of the amazing ways I've tied up the mechanisms to not leave plot holes.
