@ It's not really a valid review, just states that it's sad. If you don't like horror movies you don't go about rating horror movies with 1 star, right?

  • 3 жыл бұрын

@@monteraggo2920 yeah, if you don't like horror you usually don't watch horror movies, if you don't like sad stories you usually don't watch sad movies, but if you do watch a type of movie you don't like you still have the right and freedom of speech to go and rate it low since it's not something you liked. You can't exclude the person's review just because they knew that they wouldn't like it before they watched it. If there were no 1 star reviews it would look like everyone enjoys the movie, which is not true. Tho they could've elaborated more on why they didn't like it, instead of just saying "it's too sad"

Goddammit man, you made me realize a few things. 1. I have been doing catastrotivity in my way of art and maybe life in general, and I am definitely going to use the term to describe stuff I do. 2. It is truly inspiring, and yes, meaning is meaningless and that is how you get places. 3. The attitude of "I know what I'm doing, and I'm doing a thing called having no idea and just going with whatever the fuck happens" is a pretty good way of living life, especially if you don't give a fuck about what others think or say. 4. Man, the commandments kinda sound like stuff you could get from a book titled "The subtle art of not giving a fuck" by Mark Manson. Have you read it? If you have, that may explain it, if you haven't, go read it. It's not just some, probably, self-help book, but it's also just fun to read... Also it admits that self-help is bullshit and that the book itself is just there to tell you not how to be happy, but how to be miserable in the way that you want to be. Because there is no eternal happiness, because happiness is just a reward for being miserable correctly. 5. Holy crap man, I would love to meet you some day 6. A question about the commandments. Can I still ask help on how to actually get shit done the way I want? Because sometimes, you know what you want to try to make, but you have no idea how, and someone else may have made something with a material or a technique or some details that are really similar, and you wanna know how they did it physically.

"You must love the process, not just the end result" This is why I have such a hard time with school in particular. If the process sucks and there's no short term tangible reward, I have a difficult time pushing forward in with that process. Work isn't an issue for me so far, because there is that tangible short term reward of a paycheck. I have no desire of self improvement for the sake of self improvement. External motivation is all that gets me to do productive things. I'm not even an artistic person. I'm a sports guy, yet that still applies the same way.

I still am looking for a way to motivate myself into wrioting, I love the end product, have ideas bouncing in my head, I do not love the process. The same problem as Parker Crossland, work isn't a problem, self improvement for the sake of self improvement is. And this voice telling me, do not start next one, you will failled again and do not end it.

Recently I’ve been feeling this horrible emptiness, like all my activities are just filling time, one distraction to the next. I have a plan of what I want in the future, a house, a garden, what have you, but not of what I want to *do.* Your description of your own memories made me remember (coincidentally sparked by the same book) how I had always been a writer at heart, and I had only abandoned it recently, thinking I’d lost whatever “touch” I had. This random 4 am click may have gotten my life back on track. I do know what I want to do, when I’m not doubting myself and shutting doors.

Thanks for making me feel like an artist now. For me it's what you turned to hate, coding :) It started off as a course at University telling me how to do Java. I didn't particularly like it that much as it was way too broad and difficult in structure (without the right tools for me). However, half a year later I needed something to control something with my phone. Long story short, I sort of knew Java now so I gave it a go. Turns out, thinking what to create yourself is way more fun than having to make something for school or for someone else. No time limits, no compromises etc. Now I love programming, I feel like I can create anything I like, I can learn any language or framework as long as I enjoy it and spend time with it. I found my favorite language (Kotlin, which is based on Java but a lot more fun) and my favorite tools to program with (Jetbrains IDEs like IntelliJ, Rider, Pycharm, Android studio, yes the same guys that made Kotlin). Now I'm close to finishing my masters degree at University and I plan to work in the field (shouldn't be that hard nowadays). Anyways, while I certainly will get assignments to make money etc, I'll always work on my own projects on the side for fun and to let out my creativity. If others like what I do too, that's great and if I'll earn a bit with that, that's great too, but not really a concern :).

I've followed your journey for a while already and never regretted watching, listening to, or reading anything from you. You ring a bell in my soul I rarely hear or feel, and whenever you strike, the rust comes off and a clean sound fills me with energy. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I am actually not an artist I'm the strict sense but I'm a neuroscientist and science is a craft which demands the same set of rules you laid out so brilliantly. Right now I am in the process of creating real virtual magic, a virtual reality game which uses a brain computer interface to let you experience magic as though it were real. It is a project which realizes a dream I have had my entire life, and I finally have the technique to put it to life. I feel like you might enjoy the idea, so, in case you (or anyone else, for that matter!) read this, I'd be honored if you had a look at my teaser trailer here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpV11aisYKS1ldI.html

I discovered pretty recently that my dream is to pursue music and I've given myself 2 years to just go all in and see if anything manifests by the end of it. I believe that creative input is what makes a life meaningful and not just another dispensable cog in the wheel. Thanks for the video. I'm 24 and am looking forward to these next 2 years.
