Good thing Jackson is known for having an abundance of affordable housing for workers so none of them have to take this commute from Idaho. This shouldn't mess with the local economy at all.

It was a big pile of muddy sand that got too much water inside with nothing to displace it and they built a road on top of it. What could go wrong?

Reminds me of the Teton Dam failure. Did they use the same farmers dirt to build up the road?

Looks like they'll just have to dig out that section of collapse, reinforce the side walls of the slope, and build a nice, new bridge there.

And then there’s the Gros Vente slide in Jackson. Don’t build roads on know earth movement, said the civil engineer to to City Hall.

I've visited that area! The town of Kelly, WY was wiped-out because of the slide. The slide blocked the river and formed a lake, then the blockage broke out and the new lake flooded out and hit Kelly. Terrible tragedy from that one. We found out about it from the GaperGuide GPS guide we rented. This was years ago, they have a phone app now, I think.

Driggs workers will either have to rent floor space or divert to Alpine everyday this summer. No word of anyone getting caught in the slide. Thank God for that

That section all fill dirt built back in the 60,s. Going to like watching the fix. Under huge pressure to get it fixed. Im guessing they just fill it back up with more fill? Then for a long term fix a bridge built in there somehow.

From the picture the asphalt is a different color at the "slide", like they worked on it recently. Don't know how this is a mud slide, it looks like a fill across a valley that wasn't designed well and failed. Maybe the culvert at the bottom was too small or installed improperly and washed away the foundation.
