@@iol-adviser Yes, I just hope we'll have better IOLs 20 years down the line. Something that allows for the accommodation capability of a 40 y/o would be awesome.

Thank you for the information. How about myopia -5 to -6 ? Are the considerations the same ? Is correcting to clear near vision plus the use of progressive lenses a good option ?

it's I would say in between. near vision + progressive might be an option - depends on your lifestyle. think and reflect what is the best for you, try IOL questionnaire, discuss with your doctor.

I’d stick to glasses, but that’s just my opinion. I wish someone had told me before I had my “multi-focal IOLs”. There’s nothing multifocal about them and now I carry 3 pairs of glasses. I’d rather have myopia any day to this “Multifocal IOLs” that needs 3 glasses for different visual distances. It’s not worth it. Just my opinion.

​​@@DoctorK279 Or get a mono focal lens implanted in both eyes like I did. My distance vision is fantastic, my intermediate and near vision is fair. Just need glasses for small/fine print. Only side effect is floaters, but it doesn't impact my vision. Just an occasional nuisance if I think about them. Take care everyone and good luck.

@@tetuone11 True….monofocals are also good. I know of a reputable Opthalmologist who only does monofocal IOLs now, and not multifocal IOLs anymore because the visual outcomes and expectations were just not as expected.

@@tetuone11What was your target refraction distance, and was it the same for both eyes? Which lens did you get (e.g. Eyhance, Alcon)?

I Have nearsighted it's -1.8 for both eyes since long time... my age is 42 years old.... recently I diagnosed with catarcat on the left eye..... which lens would you recommend for me...my right eye see near distance perfect..... do you recommend to have monofocal lense for the lef eye so one eye can see close and other one can see far.. ? what about multifocal lenses options ? i might do a lasik for the right one if that possible...but again I confused :)

the answer depends on your visual needs and your economical situation if you are ready to pay for premium lens option

@@iol-adviser I prefer to see far and medium… but I told you my right eye can clear clearly near objects like phone etc…. For financial I got pre approval for the operation from my insurance company even if they not cover premium lens at least it will help me for the total cost…i’m not in US nor Europe…so in general it’s not that expensive here.
