Catan Pro Climbs The Leaderboard - Game 5

Ойындар

OWS or Ore Wheat Sheep is considered one of the strongest and most competitive setups in the Catan scene. You will be using these 3 resources to focus on buying development cards and building cities, and hopefully securing largest army for the win!
I will be playing a very standard OWS setup in this game and share my thoughts step by step with you. Will we secure another win? Guess you will have to find out.
Enjoy this gameplay, and let's go 1000+ subs! Amazing support from everyone.
Much love and stay great,
DandyDrew

For future videos, if I move the map and forget about it again, you’ll have to come up with a consequence for me. Reply to this comment below with that consequence and whatever gets the most likes, will be the winner! 😅

In my early days of playing and learning, I was the same way. You have to see that after I got immediately plowed, the perception of my strength shifted and it gave me room to stay off the radar of blue and red in the middle game. At the end of the day, you have to take responsibility for your success in Catan (and life) and not let the actions of others affect your focus on winning. It’s also important to put yourself in a position where if 1 specific play goes wrong, you can pivot and stay competitive - If your entire game hinges on getting 1 spot and you are racing someone for it, it’s most likely the wrong decision.

Great composure after the plow. I really liked how you used it to let the table focus green while you secured settle spots and devs.

I liked the 9-6-5 but I would have been very scared to give 2nd position the best ore, so I probably would have gone with the 8-5-10 as well. Very nice straightforward game!

I think putting your second settlement on the 5/10 and immediately plowing to the 9/10 would’ve made for a super spicy game

I agree a bit with the board, you gave up the free road at 5-10 and instant plow to 9-10... which would also have secured you a 3:1 a good tip: when you have to port 4:1, try to trade for another one, then you're left with 1 after porting, and you can probably build... but well played anyway! no real competition for army and devs!! :)

Hey! GG and nice playing with you. Here's a few things to consider: 1. On this board, you should be able to calculate your placements with a high reliability. 843 is not bad but if you see that green takes the 843 + 693, then you realize your outs are not that great. 5411 made sense for the wood and brick but the problem is you have all these roads and nowhere to go. That is why I was concerned you might plow me to the 10 9 2 because your game really needed it. I think the 693 offered you a few better outs on this board. 2. You made an interesting comment about "I'm not trading you all game if you block me". It's a tactic but generally, I would recommend not to come off to strong as you never know who you need as an ally as the game progresses. Better to stay amiable with the board, as much as you can. These kind of comments can shut down lines of communication with some people and ruin your ability to make better deals and trades. 3. You pointed your road to the sheep port but didn't really have any sheep. In most cases, it would be better to point right as it gives you 2 settles instead of 1. I think maybe considering the 10 9 2 to 62 would have played better for you long term. The biggest thing I think is if you calculated the 843 and green's best setup, then you would realize that wasn't the best pick for you, but you live and you learn! Hope this was helpful and excited to run the game back soon. Nice to see you here and stay great! - DandyDrew

Ah thanks so much! I was definitely tilted from a previous game with the comment about the block 😆 The goal was definitely to plough you to 1092 and use that with the sheep port and thought I could with the wood brick setup compared to yours but maybe that was incorrect Didn’t think about the fact that I would have wood brick but no where to go so that’s really helpful! Thanks

a tip on trading: don't build first on your turn, then ask for trades.. also, if you're considered a threat, don't expect others to give you 2 for 2.. even later: most players realize that you're a danger when you have 2 knights shown and 4 Devs hidden :p I like your setup, especially the OWS, which is strong in production and gives you the only good ore!! I think it was fine to go for the 3-10-11 as your second tip, with that possible expansion which you got, but going for the 3:1 with just the road step, was too ambitious :) winning this game was almost inevitable unless the table worked against you from early on

OMG!!! you were ranked 1 on colonist? You got really lucky with those initial settles stealing that brick. If the game would have went normally you would have lost all settle spots except the 5 ore. Sorry man you played like a total noob and just got lucky

@@dandydrew Really sorry I said you played like a noob man. I personally don't agree with your choices in that game but it was totally uncalled for. Guess you do what you have to do and that's it. Hope you forgive me for saying that stupid thing towards you. Dunno why but I got really frustrated with your decissions in game mainly because whenever I do such plays I usually end up fourth. I think us former ranked 1 players should support each other. I want you to know that I enjoy your content and I watch your videos daily especially since you don't usually play OWS
