First thing is DON’T PARK YOUR CAR OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT! Here in Texas, we have a quick, and extremely effective way to deal with car thieves…and they never come back to try it again! And most don’t call 911

Look car companies can literally put an alarm on every car that would trigger if the converter is messed with. I can build one out of Arduino parts for cheap.

Muslim solution. Cut off hand of thief. Not catch & release. Stop treating theft like petty crime and implement HARSH punishment. Stealing isn't a hustle.

There needs to be two laws passed. 1) Make it open season on anybody who is caught in the process of stealing a converter...meaning anybody armed can freely shoot them because they all should be considered armed and dangerous. 2) Make it a mandatory 10 year minimum prison sentence with no chance of parole for anybody caught stealing a converter. You would see this crap stop immediately.

Taking a life is not on par with taking a 2500 dollar part off your car that your insurance will replace. Forget eye for an eye -- this is taking an entire body for an eye. Stupid, dangerous, mentally ill response. If this were allowed the number of accidental killings goes up drastically. That what you want? Kids on the street or nearby houses taking bulets because some overweright right wing nutjob playing Dirty Harry comes out guns blazing because someon's messing with their car? I'm ok with making non-lethal force legal when spotting someone stealing from you, but the punishment should fit the crime, never exceed it to the point where the punishment is actually a GREATER crime than the original infraction.

don't approach anyone stealing your catalytic converter, just let them do their job, and if you carry a gun don't shoot, you could be arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated for harming a criminal. this is the world we live in.
