Catalina Story Project: "Jani in Avalon"

Ойын-сауық

Catalina Story Project was created as a way to properly capture the stories of longtime Catalina Island residents. For this edition, our subject is Jani Eisenhut. Her story spans some of the most iconic locations, buildings and activities the island has to offer. She grew up living in the landmark Casino building. She drove the fantastic Flxble tour buses throughout the island's rugged interior for the Santa Catalina Island Company. And... she is the one who plays the chimes at our historic Chimes Tower.
The subjects of these films are chosen for numerous reasons. Of course, some are because we want to be sure we capture those stories before it is too late. We are truly blessed to have so many amazing individuals living into their 90s on this island! Others are chosen because their life story allows us to share some great insights into the history of certain locations or buildings on the island.
Thanks to Cliff Hague and Story Bank Productions which is owned by Alison Armstrong and Bill Banning who are instrumental in making this happen. Previous subjects have been Doug Bombard, Roy Rose, Lolo Saldana and Rosie Cadman. These folks are pillars of this community and sharing the island’s history through their eyes has been a magical experience.
We have a running list of people that are deserving of this honor and we ask that you let us know your thoughts as to who should definitely be on that list. Please send a note to info@catalinamuseum.org.
