That's the size excavators I use, but running couple of doosans right now, dx 140 and an older 175lcv. Great machines but I love my cat equipment too. Got the next gen d3 and a 420xe. Bh

Nice the 306 looks ridiculously nice. Idk about stick steer ect but looks like a real Swiss army knife for excavator tasks and beyond.

A hydraulic system is subject to the same speed vs force equation as gears, levers or anything else. For a given amount of engine power, you trade speed for strength to get the best balance - if you want the thing to move faster, you must sacrifice strength, and vice versa. If you want to increase speed _without_ sacrificing strength, then you absolutely positively need to have a more powerful engine - there's no getting away from that. Thermodynamics demands it. Therefore I'm not surprised that this excavator has a more powerful engine.

You don’t get more speed if you don’t make the speed of the pump faster

I load a Bandit 3680 80klb grinder with a 315f it was brand new 0hrs. Iv put 962hrs on it in the last 18months. Not impressed. I own a cat308c model. She is a good old girl so im a cat fan i also just bought a 299d3 2020. The 315 f has a strange feel and slow and the thumb and bucket run on the same hydraulic circuit so it is horrible on multi tasking. Draw bar pull is real low very little track power. Its operator comfort is about a 6 1/2 outta 10. Id like to get in a next gen to c if it is much different. The c and d model cat excavators are my favorite. They aren't the fastest but r very solid machines. The 315 at my work is pretty tuff tho it is in some pretty harsh conditions feeding grinder with chips and sawdust .There is to much computer stuff in new equipment. Call me old fashioned ill take levers over buttons any day.

More buttons, more computers, more money, more emissions controls. Get yourself an older machine and learn how to work on it. You will win.

why does manufactures footage always suck so bad? like why are they showing a guy with a hydraulic quick change machine loading trucks on a highway with a digging bucket? or showing it loading trucks off of a bench that's to high for that size of machine, he can't even reach the centre of the truck box? and the oporaters..... strait outta digger school lol perhaps they need someone who can make good content to really show off the machine. hard to listen to claimed efficiency numbers when they show it being operated so dam inefficiently. by the way all manufactures seem to do it its like they are letting the film crew set up the machine and run it haha
