I tried teaching my cat how to use an actual toilet. Almost successfully. It takes a lot of time and effort, but I'm sure Cosmo will eventually get used to it 🥰

My old cat taught herself to pee on the shower drain, when the dog was blocking the litter box(He's massive and loves to nap in the bathroom for some reason). She was a genius I swear.

So I watched an episode of my cat from hell and it had a cat that kept not using the litter box and the reason was that the self cleaning litter box had nasty feces, and stuff was all over the walls cuz it was rotating and they didn’t wanna go in that nasty thing because it was gross lol just take a black light to it and you’ll see. But if your cat ain’t got anything against it it will be fine.

Cosmo really took that personally and started attacking the box. 😂😂😂 I'm glad the little guy didn't get hurt.

I have had their LR3 for the past 3+ years for my cats along with 3 regular litter boxes. I love it and am saving up for 2 LR4s. It is an amazing investment. The LR4 now has a weighted portion to let you know how often and which cats use the robot. Which can help you monitor your pet's potty habits!

My cat had this thing for like a day or two where she peed in the bathroom floor for whatever reason, and then she peed in my bedroom floor. Neither that was fun to clean up

But it's a biohazard. Ever heard of toxoplasmosis? The way our sewage system works isn't suitable to properly deal with the parasites that cause it. Parasites that are frequently present in cat poop. I admit that urine is less likely to contain it, but it could still contain other things that are not supposed to go down the drain. This isn't a criticism of Safiya, I just mean to say this habit should be discouraged, and in no way should anyone be inspired to train their cats to do this on purpose.

I have this! It’s amazing! Just a heads up, you might not want to keep it in the bathroom because moisture can ruin the sensors overtime. Of course if you never plan on using that shower or tub, I’m sure it’s fine. You also want to place it on a flat hard surface, not a rug because that can affect its performance. I highly recommend following the litterrobot subreddit, it’s a wealth of tips and information 👍

how long does the robot take to clean up the stool and does it start the cleaning system automatically just after a cat finish its business?

@@itsmimiray you set a timer for that on your phone app. You can have it wait as little as 1 minute and up to 20 minutes. Once the cat exits the box, the timer counts down and it then cycles, which takes about 1 minute as long as your cat doesn’t interrupt it

Cats generally prefer two litterboxes. They often seperate their big and small business. Idk why, but if you have the room to spare, make your cat happy with a second spot for business

And yet my cats are freaks. They all want a single communal litter box. I use to follow the one for each plus one rule, but found that they only wanted to go in whatever litterbox my queen cat designated as THE litterbox and the rest went untouched unless THE litterbox got too dirty. Now I just have two for four cats.. The main litterbox and the spare litterbox. Yes I have to clean the main litterbox constantly lol.

Yes, a rule of thumb is to always have one move litter box than you gave cats.

I see these automated ones, and all I can wonder is, “what’s the clean up like after a bout of…digestive upset?“

My cat had liquid shits a little while ago. I have one from a different brand, but it did very well. There's a buffer period where the cat litter absorbs the moisture, making it a clump as intended, and it proceeds as normal. My cat did shit up its inner walls, so spot cleaning the walls inside after she went was necessary, but that's easy with a paper towel and cleaning spray. Cleaning the cat after each time was the hard part.

Theres a similar but slightly cheaper option for anyone interested: it’s called Leo’s Loo Too! My cat and I both really like it. As some commenters have pointed out you should always check to make sure that your cat is going #1 and #2 regularly bc it’s easier to forget with an automatic litter box. Not going regularly could signal potential health problems. The Leo’s Loo comes with an app that lets you know when your cat has used it, which I find helpful. my cat adjusted to his automatic litter box within 3-4 days (the Leo’s Loo comes with instructions on how to get your cat used to the machine). It has been absolutely game-changing and I highly recommend it! Edited for grammar.

This is by far the best investment we have ever made. I haven’t scooped litter since March. My cats are happy their box is always clean. Just be careful about mold. The bottom tray has grown white fuzzy mold on the waste before due to the moisture. You can just change the bag more frequently.

The mold is from spores feeding on urine and feces. You have no concern about leaving that in the bin for days? Yikes!

Cats are suppose to have at least 2 litter trays (the general rule is 1 tray per cat + 1). It's super common for cats to prefer to pee in one tray and poo in another tray too

I bought one several years ago and absolutely love it!! Especially for multiple cats absolutely worth it of you can afford it.

They say you need to get a cat use to it before turning it on and letting it cycle. But for me, my two immediately took to the litter robot. I love the thing! It helps me not smell the litter like I would with traditional litter boxes. And with me being newly disabled, I only have to worry about emptying it once a week. So I consider it a big win because I probably would have been forced to get rid of at least one if not both of my cats after my amputation.

I gotta say Cosmo seems like pure chaos, and i love that!

Honestly, the litter robot is worth it. Hands down the best decision I have made for my cats. It took them time to acclimate but once they did, pure heaven.

I'm chronically ill and hauling my cat's litter for full changes is a real struggle for me, I've been looking at robot litterboxes recently and "my cat fucking hates it" seems to be a common theme. My personal theory is that they're too noisy for them and the movement freaks them out a bit. I'm not sure about this one but I've heard that the pee leaks into parts it's not supposed to on other litter robots as well, so that's something it keep an eye on if he ever starts peeing in the robot box.

Try for a refurbished one of their site. I got the 3 refurbished with extended warranty so when it had issues, they sent me a new base. It's fantastic only having to clean once a week. And the 4 is so much better than the 3. Quieter and less smelly.

Jackson galaxy doesn’t recommend these things because they will pee in the sink because the litter and the sent get stuck all over the litter box, which makes them upset. And overly territorial sorry if I got that wrong it’s been a while since I watched my cat from hell but normally those litter box robots aren’t very good for them so I don’t know if they got any better, but it doesn’t seem so

I have three cats and these litter boxes are a lifesaver

My cat is an AVID kicker. He’ll kick around, bury, unbury, and rebury several times. He sniffs around until he’s satisfied. We had to get him a dome litter box with a side entry so he doesn’t waste perfectly good litter. If they made a more enclosed model, I would definitely save up for it.
