Woot woot! Looked like everybody had a good time. Nice to see Dean loosen up, hang out, and have a good laugh with friends. Nala was a good little girl but she was happy to see you.

If I had my way, I wouldn’t let you guys camp outside. :) It’s always comforting to see you two arrive at a warm safe lodging, at the end of your trip.

I have to say I LOVE to hear Dean and Nala are staying in a hotel room for the night... camping is fine during summer, but in winter, not so much. Nala seems to enjoy the rooms and she has lots of fun with the furniture and loves stairs when the room has one... Italy looks amazing and that hostel is affordable and seems like lots of fun. For those who travel alone, the best way to go is to stay in hostels around the world...

Happy New Year Dean and Nala!! Love to see you with some company enjoying yourselves!! Great to see that Nala has learnt that you will return when you have to leave her for a short while...I'm sure knowing she was soo distressed, even for a wee while was upsetting for you also ! On a side note I absolutely LOVE just how civilised Europe is compared to the rest if the world in terms of both cyclists AND animals. Here in Australia you can't take an animal to a hotel or most anywhere else (guide dogs exempt of course). Pretty sure the US and UK are the same. Some B&B's etc allow them but it's not a given. I would LOVE to see Dean and Nala travel around this beautiful country but I think it would be extremely problematic . ..even camping without permits is not allowed. We don't have bike/walking paths everywhere ....even our attitude to bikes on the road is waay different . Bikes are often tooted at or yelled at for being in the way...(not always of course but it does happen...a lot)...here in Aust..the US & UK we should hang our heads in shame that we dont encourage the much healthier (environmentally and personally) mode of transport that Europe has always used. No wonder soo many backpackers/cyclists and the like choose Europe . Even little things like how the hotel owner or train conducter go out of their way to help with Deans' bike etc. those acts of automatic kindness I find are few and far between here these days. Sorry for the long (sort of) rant but the differences between our continents are growing the longer I follow this beautiful journey. Stay safe guys! Love from down under xx

In uk have bike lanes. Camping allowed in Scotland. England designated sites. We are a crowded island 68+ m people. 40ýrs ago our vehicle broke down on the way to holiday stayed overnight in family room with border collie. A hotel in Worcester. Times/attitudes change of course..

@@hyyariima WE live in the pacific NW and just get so tired of folks wearing dark clothing - drivers can't see walkers, makes me very angry. very harmful - an elderly couple killed in a mall parking lot - walking in rain - Just wearing dark clothes.

Bici into Venice? Oh no, no, no...... non possible! I hope that you left the bike safe in Maestre and managed to travel (with Nala of course) by train and water-ferry into Venice and spend some time there. It IS such an amazing city to explore. We went there with Bike Friday folding bikes, and foolishly, folded them up, bagged them and carried them (with other panniers) to our Air B&B close by to Piazza San Marco. NEVER again! Such idiocy, it was sheer hard graft for no reason other than to park the folded bikes in our accommodation.

Been to Venice in 2019 and stayed a few nights at hotel Anda. One of the best hostel I've seen. Very nice and modern. Have great time in Venice Nala, Dean & Leona! And a happy 2022!

I loved venice myself lost my 4 yr old amongst the pigeons all was well but fantastic place to visit enjoy yourselves, not sure nala will like so many pigeons lol xx
