Pet Care Credit is designed for situations like this. . There are plenty of home remedies to help with diarrhoea that isn't viral, bacterial or parasitical in nature. Poached turkey with natural pumpkin (not the variety for pies) or mashed sweet potato, or brown rice. Limited ingredients that are bland and high in fibre will help bulk out loose stools. Unless you have a microscope, are happy to dig around in kitty poop and know what to look for in terms of infection, you need to go to a vet and get a fecal sample done as a minimum, otherwise you're treating the symptom and not the condition. The point is .. all living creatures will get sick at some stage. Start putting money aside each month to cover future requirements or pay a monthly insurance premium. Broke is relative. Dead is dead.

This is saved two of my cats lives… unflavored Pedialyte given through a dropper up to 50 mL a day. Wet food will also help supplement hydration if they have an appetite… I put shredded tuna in water, low sodium chicken broth, and give them cottage cheese. I put it through a strainer because my cat loves “cottage cheese juice.“ It’s disgusting but he loves it! If he doesn’t have an appetite, anything is better than nothing. I once gave my cat liquid treats in a 24 hour period to keep him alive before we could get to the vet on a weekend. It turned his diarrhea from clear to brown, and probably saved his life. When I asked the vet about it, they said “whatever works.” It’s not something you wanna do every day, but whatever works!

If you wouldn't experiment on yourself, please don't experiment on your cat. You need to find a place that will let you bring in a fecal and urine sample. A test like this shouldn't be that expensive. Call some local nonprofits or shelters to ask for recommendations.

I had to switch to a higher quality of dry food because my one cat had the crystals since I changed the food, my other cat has had diarrhea. I put more water bowls around the house and I can tell both of them are drinking more water by the amount of water displaced, he had a checkup and he got a clean bill of health. I don't want to change the food back since it caused the crystals in the other cat, no change in the amount he is eating either. Anything I can do to make the change easier on him?

I just went through a period of stress because my Siamese kitten had serious diarrhea for plus minus 2-3 weeks. After some research I realized the problem was cow milk. My cat was allergic to it. I stopped giving him milk and took the normal cat pellets away. I gave him a raw egg mixed with rice for two days as a diet. On day 1-4, in the morning, I gave him an eighth portion of an Allerway 5, Levocetrizine dhydrochloride 5mg, tablet crushed mixed with a quarter teaspoon of cornflour and half teaspoon of water. From day 3-5 I gave him his normal cat pellets sprinkled with quarter teaspoon of cornflour. From day 5 his stomach became normal and his diarrhea was something of the past. I did this treatment whilst I noticed that he was not ok and stopped the treatment as soon as I noticed that things are becoming normal. This ensured that the kitten is not overdosed in which case could cause other problems.

@@gampinyokir6854 Hi there, I am not a scientist or doctor but if they can eat meat or fish, I cannot understand why they cannot eat eggs. My cat is still alive and very healthy, in fact I have two cats and both had the problem. I have treated both the same way and it worked and they are still healthy at the moment.

In fact, it had diarrhea twice and in both cases I treated the cat the same way and it worked. Trusting internet with information is not always the right thing to do as in this case.

hey man, you got some info wrong, your cat wasn’t “allergic” to it, the fact is all cats are lactose intolerant, and any dairy products are very bad for them, instead you should give them a milk formula (kitten replacement milk), not cow’s milk, and stay away from anything that has lactose

@@ibrahimharounn Thanks for your comment. What is important is that I connected the cow milk to the cat's diarrhea which made me act the way that I did and it did help my cat. That is what counts.

Nowadays vets are working on commission so they will not exactly help you. I was in your situation a couple of time. The best way is to study these utube videos and be your own vet

Cats cannot have lactose.....however the probiotics in plain yogurt are natural remedy for diarrhea ,spoon feed them.....as the doc explained

You withhold other food until the cat eats it, or you cover it with FortiFlora (which makes it super yummy to a cat). Always make sure your cat is drinking plenty of water.

Mix it in with a favorite soft food. My cats eat pumpkin all the time- I have one who does much better when pumpkin is part of his regular diet.

If it's black and tar like take him to the vet now ,if he has regular runs with small specks of blood it most likely a parasite and you can buy meds at pet smart.look it up online. Try getting him yogurt with probiotics, plain or vanilla it should help if there is nothing serious going on.

no yogurt...oops, vets always disagree!! the dairy part can CAUSE diarrhoea, so if your cat STILL has it, you don't know whether you've cured the diarr. and then started it again because of the dairy, or whether it just didn't work. I've not had much luck with probiotics (bacteria that you can buy at a health food store and then sprinkle on the cat's food...it would be less than a capsule) Pumpkin would START at about a teaspoon per dish of food, but i've known some cats to work slowly up to a tablespoon. ps do NOT give KAOPECTATE ANYMORE (unless you have an old bottle at home) It used to be made with Kaolin Pectin, which was safe for cats (one teaspoon a dose, ...that's 5 mls/ccs...2-3 times a day...as soon as the diarr. starts to firm up, stop, because you don't need constipation either...but NOW the idiots have changed the formula to BISMUTH SALICYLATE which is poisonous to cats and dogs. it's the same formula as Pepto bismol (also very toxic) Right now, the best thing to do is get some Metronidazole from the vet..Good luck!

Cow's milk is not healthy for kittens, and actually causes diarrhoea in most cats, because of the lactose. You need a Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR) from a good pet store or your local vet practice. It's designed to mimic the mother's milk.

I put a teaspoon of it in a little dish and my cat loves it. Plain can pumpkin that is. She likes it cold too. I sometimes about 1/2 teaspon of nonfat plain yogurt mixed in to it too.

@@TechnoAitBella Found out my cat had Giardia AND Coccidia parasites.. Her stool firmed up after treatment. But yes the pumpkin was effective and the yogurt helped to.. Use only pure pumpkin in the can, do not use the pumpkin pie mix in a can. Make sure it is pure pumpkin. I recommend getting your cat tested for Giardia or Coccidia.It is tested in a stool sample. Giardia is pretty common and causes diarrhea. Coccidia is another parasite and can make a cat sick. Ask your vet about having your cats stool sample tested. If it is a parasite there are meds will help clear it up. There is usually an underlying cause for diarrhea in pets. I hope this helps. I am so sorry your cat is sick.

im surprised this vet is recommending yogurt as a probiotic. they usually prescribe powdered probiotics for animals. yogurt is dairy product and could make diarrhea worse.

i have a newborn kitten and she have a diarrhea so how can i give her the pumpkin should i cook it and make it as a soup or what? because she can only drink,please help!

Canned plain pumpkin and just feed them a bit of that. Do not need to cook it. It is pretty wet .But I would imagine you could water it down.Might need to syringe feed her. I don't know about a newborn kitten, I would contact a vet and ask them to be sure. I give my cat a teaspoon of it. I store the rest in a small plastic container in the fridge and then give it too her cold the next time. She loves it.
