They had each other when no one cared about either one. Now they have you, their human.

My brother owned a mastiff mix dog and every day he would eat half his dinner, and leave the rest for some feral cats who dropped by daily. He was a beautiful dog.

I thought he should have put a harness on Pumpkin and attach it to Missy for walks. Not a good idea in reality but it would have been very fitting.

Be careful feeding out of cans. When they lick out the can, the underside of the inside lip is like a razor blade, and slices their tongue. Cute story - thanks for sharing!

100% correct. It's obvious they know each other. You can tell by their behaviors. This guy is clueless about their bond. Nonetheless, I'm glad they found their forever home.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, that when they were both strays they'd already gotten along outside.. that's why the cat was already familiar with the pit bull when this guy was walking her, that didn't just happen in that instance on that day

I set a basketball on a desk one day. A little later I heard a commotion. The cat was batting the basket ball off the desk and my pittie would would bounce it back with his nose. That was the new home for the basketball and they played that game every day. Also, if it was bedtime, my dog would have to go find the cat and make him come in and gi to bed. They were best friends. (RIP Boris the cat).

Our cat was never around dogs before we adopted her, but when she first heard the neighbor's dog bark, she was instantly in love. She would go to the window and search for whomever was making that sound. Then they finally met through a window screen and they've been BFFs since.

Pumpkin: Don't worry, Missy, I'll protect you. Missy: You're the BEST bodyguard!

They probably found each other before and Pumpkin had to refind Missy lol. Glad they are besties adopted together now.

I include our cat on our walks. We only go 1/2 block in each direction so we can limit her territory. People will stop their cars and trucks and say, "Is that cat going for a walk with your dog?"

Well one of my cats was let out 3 years ago in right in front of my door in my front yard was ripped apart by a coyote my other two cats do not go out I don't want them killed I don't want them in danger of predators mean people animals nothing

I had a cat that would go for walks with her dogs . D She had a collar and a leash. My first cat that I had would break up the dogs when they fought and she would punish the dog that started the fight. D

I agree that if the food is taken out of the can it will be safer for the cat because the interior edges are sharp, plus it's easier to eat from a flat dish where the food has been broken down with a fork into edible bite size bits...I have cats, I know.

I’m assuming that happened before he officially adopted Pumpkin because he fed him that outside. There was a point in the video when they were inside the house and Pumpkin was eating from his bowl that was on top of the counter.

​@sdmsdm7926 Cats have the teeth to shred their food/prey. But for those of us with house cats, we usually make bite-size bits because we think that's easier for cats. Cats actually "gulp" the small bits so they swallow whole, no "chewing". It's good if your cat gets a chance to shred and tear at food. Never feed a male cat dry kibble. That stuff will kill your cat will kidney issues. Instead, ALWAYS feed Cats moist/canned food. I also add water to food as well as a bit of salmon oil.

It's okay to feed them dry food as long as it's not the only thing you feed them. Also most importantly never never feed them Walmart brand anything that stuff is horrible! I did have one cat out of the 43 who got blocked and that's when I was using Walmart brand dry food. My cat Benny has been fed dry food his entire 16 years. He doesn't really care for canned food so I give him a spoonful of tuna everyday which I have done for 16 years He's never had a problem and is in perfect health. It's all about balance. But yes wet food is a necessity and anybody who thinks it isn't shouldn't have a cat. I say that because I've known people that refuse to feed their cats wet food.

You you should get Pumpkin a harness and lead so they can go for walks together...

My son rescued a cat who was about 6 months old…immediately, Harry imprinted with his dog, Sienna. They are like siblings and they watch out for each other in every way. It’s familial love!

I love how these two kindred spirits just stroll along side by side. Just so sweet❤️

He need to put a harness on Pumpkin and take him on the walks instead of locking him inside while Missy walks. Pumpkin like the walks. The fresh air, exercise and new smells to explore are all good things for him. Especially the exercise; Pumpkin is becoming round like one.

There was a stray cat that we rescued & brought in to avoid some neighbor boys from abusing or hurting her. She was caught up on all vaccines and quarantined in our home. We brought in a foster dog shortly afterwards. Miss KitKat decided that we had gotten her a new pet. Of course we foster-failed on the lovely dog (Aussie-lab mix). Those 2 were constantly together for 12 years, even died within a month of each other. Still miss them, even though we have other dogs & cats since them.

Cats & dogs will do this! My parents took my cat while I was away for a few weeks for work. He was in a bedroom suite with french doors on a magna-latch, and somehow bargained with their schnauzer that, if the schnauzer broke him out of jail, he would knock the thawing hamburger off the counter for the schnauzer 😂 Parents called me that night, one of them went back out after work to pick up a rotisserie chicken. They were in a "no one had to cook, yay" mood, laughing at the situation. Kitty jail break is still a fave memory

What a special pair they are! Their needs are met and the obvious affection is a bonus.

Prove that applies to all animals... or even just dogs. Ive seen animals stop f'ing with their owner for good and adopt other family members as their new owner basically... dogs betray owners over food... we now know what most animals(mammals particularly) look and act like when they mourn yet dnt always see then mourn when separated from their family... explain how any of that pls. I kept the list short. And tbh I almost agree but you over generalized like a mf
