He had vast experience and hands on experience for Caterpillar 627, 631 and 637 push pull scrapers in Pakistan. Now I got 25 years of Caterpillar experience by my father especially for Caterpillar classic engines likewise D342, D343, D346, D348 and D349. But I miss him so much now. Bless you.

    Is that a new dampener on the front of the engine? It looks like it was a little wobbly when it was being shut down. The guys at Pittsburgh power maintain to replace the dampener mandatory every 500k to keep the rotating mass in check as the silicone in it goes hard and you end up getting a vibration in the seat of your pants.

    This is a fascinating video. Can you help me understand where the radiator is in this video? Are there coolant lines on the bottom running to some kind of radiator off screen?

  • @wadewalker6231

    @wadewalker6231

    6 жыл бұрын

    BCal that is an intercooler which is intended to keep the charge air cooled coming from the turbo side of the engine.

  • @wadewalker6231

    @wadewalker6231

    6 жыл бұрын

    BCal similar in theory to a radiator that cools engine coolant the intercooler is intended to cool down the air coming from the turbo which can be over 1,000+ degrees. There are two halves to a turbo. An exhaust side and an intake side connected by a shaft.

  • @wadewalker6231

    @wadewalker6231

    BCal generally in a dynamometer(Dyno) room like this one there usually are several large reservoirs wth hoses and quick connecters of engine oil and coolant utilized to keep the engine cool in the event that they are performing extended endurance and or performance tests on different configurations, Horsepower ratings and parts setups. because they do not have the benefit of ram air like being out on the open road.

    What kind of MPG can you expect from a C-18 in a KW T800? What would be the best Cat engine as far as cost of ownership (Reliability, maintenance, MPG, longevity, ect) for a heavy haul glider. Would it be worth the extra money to put bigger than a C-15 in a heavy haul glider? Any input is greatly appreciated!

    Are these engines any good? I know Scania's big motors (16.4 litre 730Hp-2600lbs/ft torque) well and the Volvo D16, but don't see these at all in Europe. Seems a big engine for a road going vehicle.

    These CAT engines are only custom built into trucks. They dont sell them as a option when u buy a new truck. The only European truck manufacturer i know that used CAT-Engines is SISU Trucks.

    Some C18 bellhousings have slots for starters on each side. Sometimes you need two to start the engine with a bunch of equipment attached. Most of the time, you just need one, so you can put the starter on either side. There is probably a starter on the other side of the engine.
