Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
There's no doubt that cats make great pets. They're cute, cuddly and fun! But sometimes they can behave in ways that frustrate owners. Join Dr. Debra Horwitz as she discusses the common problem behaviors in cats and how to address these behaviors to keep our cats in our homes and keep the human-animal bond strong.

I was surprised and disappointed that you'd mention declawing even as "the last resort", it just seems so cruel.
Declawing should not be done at all.
Declawing should NEVER be done, not even as last resort...
My cat got out once (he was an indoor cat at the time). Sometimes we saw him prancing around in the garden, but when someone tried to get closer, he'd run away. I guess he enjoyed being a "wild animal". After two weeks he came back inside and now he's a half indoor, half outdoor cat. Also one of my previous cats used to regularly vanish for a week or a few days, then come home and eat a whole can of cat food :) I hope your cat is OK and will return too!
My cat does things that I don't get. When I pet him, he often starts drooling and seems like he tries to get as much saliva on me as possible. Also he always headbutts me violently, sometimes so hard that I'm surprised he hasn't got himself a concussion yet. It doesn't bother me, I'm just curious. Oh and he always has fresh water, but doesn't want to drink it. He has several bowls, but he prefers rain water or the toilet (if he manages to sneak in). Can someone tell me why he does these things?
Thanks for posting.
It's also worth getting at least 1 scratching post for each cat, on the internet you can get very good prices. If you have the space, get 2 scratching posts per cat and spread them around their territory. Declawing should not be done at all. The same with litter boxes - 1 per cat again. In the past we've had friendly cats, timid cats & aggressive cats - each has their own personalities.
my cat was very hard at the begining, very violent. After she got older she is a peach, aways calm and cool. But now she lick herself so much she is losing all the fur on the belly, legs and arms. what can it be? additional info: we have 2 dogs, one is old and doesn't interact with her and the other is yonger than the cat and it's a full time play'n fun machine. My cat seem to really like her, since they play all the time.
Thank you! Great video!
Great advice AmerVetMedAssn my cat Smoggy often likes some privacy. She likes to jump onto my back and hop into a high up cupboard in the mornings. I then leave a chair for her to jump out when she is ready to be more social - usually after a few hours.
great video, thanks

Chris, we can't answer that question online. You should talk to your vet if you're concerned about your cat's behavior.
Awesome video... Very informative... Excellent presenter.
I see, thank you.
Saying "cats outnumber dogs as our number one pet" might be misleading. When the woman who was to become my wife first visited my home, she was surprised to find that while I had one dog, I had six cats. I have had about thirty cats in my lifetime, always in multiples. I have had usually one dog at a time. Cats take up much less space than dogs and are less demanding on the owner's time. And they are much easier to keep in a city apartment, not requiring multiple daily walks. I am both a cat and a dog man, prefer to live with both, and don't get into pointless arguments about the relative merits of each.
thith wath very uthful! thankth!
