This is like, tear jerking in the most loving way. It's great to hear a good band in a rehearsal from back in the day. It's amazing to see him exploring, laughing, and hear some more of his creativity in a looser context. Sure sure, his double Cs were good, sure. But man, there's so much more here! You can hear him referencing all the greats from his lifetime too, Pops, Diz, Roy; he was a real student and a real master of the craft! But most of all, I think, it's beautiful to hear Cat's feel as though you were standing right by him. You really have to ignore it to miss how nice his time is. Daaaaaaamn. Thanks for putting this up!

I have the upmost respect for Mr. Anderson. I played trumpet for a lot of years and I know just how hard(hell, NEAR IMPOSSIBLE) it is to hit those super high notes on that instrument! He's got some very strong lips indeed! Claude sure looks like he was having a tremendous amount of fun with his band! Between then and some of the more recent recordings of his live shows today, he's as energetic as ever, what a master he is!

Cat Anderson was born to play the trumpet: it was his identity, his life. I had the honor to know him when I was a teenager. He was rather an unstable man; a man who had had a very hard life. Yet he could be as generous and warm as his playing.
