The Cat 289D3 is 74 hp. Above 25 hp a diesel particulate filter is (DPF) required. Above 75 hp both DPF and Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) are required.

I just asked my buddy who owns the machine and he says it has no DEF but the the 299 does and that’s why he didn’t get the bigger one when he was looking .

@@DirtBrute He is a smart man. I looked up the Cat 299 and it is 110 hp. More horsepower is always nice, but it comes at a cost. In this case, the 299 is more $$$$ and possibly more headaches due to the DEF system.
Wonderful guys! The 317 at abt 14 min reminded me of a DENTIST in someone's mouth! What a lot of work and kinda makes you appreciate all the equipment you have along with the knowhow like you guys have to use it. This place should look great when done and you all played a part of it! Thank you!

Yes, under the require horsepower.
