I remember playing this way back when it first released on the PSP, which also included the original Rondo of Blood game plus Symphony of the Night as unlockables, which is also how I played through those games the very first time too.

i really liked how they made richters gameplay smoother in this game, it didn't feel like controlling a brick instead like in rondo of blood or dracula x (or maybe im just bad at those games lol)

That's a goofy looking walk cycle. But I think I love it.

I own this game on PSP, but I can’t for the life of me understand why I ever once thought this remake was better than Rondo of Blood. Now that I’m older and wiser, I think the pixel art of the original has aged so much better than its remake. I appreciate how much work obviously went into this, but the low resolution, blurry textures of the PSP don’t have nearly as much charm as the original game. It’s not a bad game; it’s actually fairly good, but I think Rondo of Blood is a classic and this remake will probably always live in its shadow.

That has to do with the PSP's limitations. It wouldn't necessarily look stellar on the PS2 (it probably would on the PS3), but it would certainly suffer from fewer flaws on that system. I'd like to see it updated for current-gen consoles (and it could be bundled with remakes of Symphony of the Night and Dracula X(X)/Vampire's Kiss).

Although this game does have a well defined art style and have alot of love put into it… you know, like better backgrounds, level visuals and all, it aged poorly in comparison to Rondo of Blood due to three factors: Budget _(remember, it ain’t Castlevania if it’s high budget)_ PSP limitation _(yup)_ 3D _(although if it was on the PS3, perhaps the art style of Ayami Kojima can be replicated)_ Because it does have a defined art style, it looks pretty good not gonna lie… _but it has so much that holds it back_ that it doesn’t matter, but hey, at least Lament of Innocence looks pretty good

@@James-oj6ru I think this game is the closest we ever got to Aymi Kojima's art being playable. Also I like the sense of place that the backgrounds have. They look so deep and well thought out. Also I prefer the control of the remake.

RIP Neil Peart, the professor.

This looks uglier than the original Rondo of Blood or Vampire's Kiss.

Still a really good port though. They add new things and make some quality of life changes. I recommend it a lot if you like Rondo.

To be fair it was made for the tiny PSP screen, but yeah, these sub-PS2 graphics are dated as hell compared to the original.

It's really not that bad for a 2.5D PSP game from 2007. Probably looked incredible on the smaller screen, actually.

Vampire kiss looks good, i agree, but it's inferior to both this and the original in every other aspect besides visuals. The original looks good, but just has alot of areas with "generic brick wall", so between the three, i definitely prefer this remake.

Damn what happened to this guy, he had a long flow while ago now it's balding
