This is a very worthy remix of a classic Castlevania staple! It's wrestled for years with "Bloodlines" as my favorite song in this game.

Not too Heavy (like Judgement). Not too Beated up (like Sotn). Not too Silly (like Chronicles). This is very good. The best version so far.

this and super Castlevania 4 are tied as my favorite castlevania's. including the original of course. but I have to say that this version might be my favorite version of the song next to the original as well.

@RCCola339 nice, Im on CV Chronicles atm, played it a while back but stopped at the clock tower boss. I must say I think it's one of the more difficult titles.

Depends on which version of CV you select on Chronicles (the PS1 re-release of the Sharp X68000 game), Arranged is tough, but Original Mode is far harder, yet there are those who say the X68000 original is even harder (have played it plenty, it is quite tough, perhaps a bit tougher than the re-release). That X68000 game is quite nasty with it's difficulty.

The fact that one has an SNES emulator and plays it does not imply stupidity. I, too, have the emulator and play the game. In fact, that's how I was able to play it for the first time.

@RCCola339 hehe, true but ill admit im a bit biased because at the time i played x i had no idea there was a rondo, i played it via emulator :)

Left earphone for Rondo of Blood style intro to Vampire Killer until it messes up the music at 0:18, right earphone for a different theme. How did I notice this? I have a pair of headphones that only work in the right earphone so I was listening to that "different theme" and tried it with a pair of properly working headphones.

It's actually a bug with the SNES audio. It's weird and moves some audio channels between your ears/

@MrZangetsu468 Actually, Dracula for X is really easy if you have the throwing axe.

The song is slightly messed up, probably due to the way the uploader ripped the music from the Rom. Just play the game and you'ill see it is not intended to sound that way.

@PoIaris Well for me, it's got to be the version in Rondo of Blood on the TurboGrafxCD(Played it on the Wii vc). I encourage you to hear it, it's just amazing.

@RCCola339 lol I'm actually finding the clock tower about the same difficulty as the harder levels in 3. CV 3 is probably the hardest one especially at the end, but it depends which path you take through the game... the level with the falling blocks and the fact that if you lose to dracula you start outside the castle doesnt help things. Bloodlines' later levels are also up there.

If you think CV3 is the hardest in the series, have I got a game for you, the Sharp X68000 version, brutal as hell to try and finish. Even the PS1 re-release's Original Mode isn't quite as hard (CV Chronicles).

@ThePokeDawg well i got news for you pal one of the few things that rondo does not have is is more realistic less cartoony sounds for example the whip strokes in Rondo its just a bip bip and in Dracula x they sound more like a real whip stroke yes more bosses areas but this is the castlevania we (occidentals) Knew and love.

@blacklustwolf i love them both. Hey, Rondo kicks ass too and it was the original idea. But yes, the badass whip sound of the Snes version was sick. *slash! pshhh!*

This version is okay. We hear different versions but not all fit the way it all sounds in the NES 8-bit theme, ya know? Its missing some parts of the notes. Its still a cool version.

I think in terms of difficulty this game outshines Rondo bigtime. After mastering this backn the day & playing it now and then, to moving to Rondo, it was great but there was only really one level (the one w.o bosses) that was hard. The rest were pretty damn easy and the game is too easy w. Maria. And X's bosses; the White Knight (who you have to beat with the Key), Death (only if you've saved Maria and Anna) and Dracula (hardest demon form excluding CV III for NES) trumped any Rondo bosses.

@RCCola339 I know the axe does double damage to the whip, but this game is much harder than Rondo, especially Death and the fact that you cant play as Maria (who was way too easy to beat Rondo with). X has harder platforming especially in the later levels, particularly the Castle and Dracula himself (who was better than Rondo's imo).
