Of all the sirens, this is one of the ones I least expected to see. This year had a BADASS siren roster. Shame I couldn't be there lol

Did hear whispers one of "our" sirens would be going to that. Unfortunately, I remain on the wrong side of the Atlantic to go to it myself, but if dates work in a future year, never say never!

Such an iconic sound! I gotta ask, was the generator putting out 240V 50hz for this specific test? Or did they have it running off 208V 60hz? The reason I ask is because it sure doesn’t sound like 240V 60hz, the rpm would be much higher like a 2t22!

It was 50hz, they had to convert it before they were gonna set it off

These nominally run off 415V 50Hz 3-phase so it would've needed a fair bit of converting to get the right sound. I think this particular siren was exported with a frequency inverter to allow the owner to run it at home on a conventional supply, so maybe this particular test used that. Single-phase 240V Castle Castings sirens do exist but are very rare, even in the UK!

The Generator was putting out 240V Single Phase 60Hz, the owner of the siren brought a Convertor that converted to 3 Phase and also converted to 50hz.

@@mrnorthwestohiodude7758 yeah. The siren was send with the VFD, so he could connect it from domestic power and the output 3 phase + the required Hz and voltage.

We had to throw 208 volt single phase into the VFD in order for it to come out with the british three phase standard 415 volts
Now imagine a CS8 at SirenCon
