    I was just thinking. You mentioned a swivel caster that had a locking system that locked the wheel and the swivel simultaneously, but I was wondering if it's possible to have one that gives the option to lock the wheel and swivel independently. That way you can lock the swivel to pull a long distance, then unlock it when you need it to swivel again.

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    Great question. We do offer directional locking casters when engaged the swivel will lock in one direction but it will not lock the wheel. It is only directional locking pertaining to the swivel raceway.

    Need a recommendation on casters for a workbench I'm building. Workbench top is 60x30, oak, 1.5" thick and weighs about 80 lbs. Building the frame with 2x4's and 2x6's, and not planning on having a lot of weight on the bench, but just in case I'd probably want a capacity of around 500-600 lbs total. Will be used in my garage on a concrete floor, and I'd prefer something that rolls smoothly. Also want all the casters to swivel as it's a confined space, and want the brakes to lock both the wheel and swivel. What would you suggest? Thanks for the advice!

    Hi Greg, I would recommend a 4" x 1-1/4" Total Locking Caster with a Gray non marking thermo plastic rubber wheel. The Swivel casters have a smaller swivel radius than are larger casters and each caster will hold 250 lbs for a total of 1,000 lbs of weight capacity for a set of 4 casters. • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    I would go with a Thermo Rubber Wheel it’s a gray non marking thermo engineered rubber. Doesn’t leave streaks, soft to absorb shock, very quiet, and is great on all of those floor types especially floor protective on epoxy. We have them in all sizes light duty as well as medium/heavy duty. As far as bearings go, there is always going to be some play and movement/noise in a roller bearing, if this is an issue I’d always recommend going with a precision ball bearing which is also an upgrade you can choose on our website when ordering casters, reach out to us at info@casterhq.com or call us at 844-439-4335 and we will help you more.

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    Жыл бұрын

    Air filled tires would require alot more maintenance and could flat spot with the maximum weight sitting on these casters. You could do a mold on rubber wheel which would be a good choice for outside and it would allow a direct replacement swap of the wheel and since I have those wheels in the same size.

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you have enough room under your cart or equipment to attach a mounting plate all you would need to do is remove the stem casters, drill a hole according to the bolt hole pattern of the casters you are wanting to use or simply weld the casters on if you are able. Either way will work only if you have enough space to fit a plate. Thank you.

    I need some casters for a bunch ice cream transport carts they are often left outside, washed, put in a -20°F freezer while wet, dropped, never greased, etc. What casters would you recommend? We have phenolic wheels but they keep chipping and cracking apart as well as the swivels becoming rusted solid so the carts don't roll straight. All four of the wheels need to swivel. Stainless steel for everything would be ideal.

    CONCRETE FLOOR, DOLLIES FOR ROLLING 3000LB BURIAL VAULTS. WHATS BEST? THANKS

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Terry, It depends on the overall height of the burial vaults you are moving. If you don't mind them being sort of high I would recommend either a 6" or 8" diameter caster wheel because the larger the wheel the easier it is to roll. If the concrete is smooth concrete with zero debris I would say a steel wheel would be the easiest for you to roll this type of weight. If you want floor protection I would recommend a polyurethane on cast iron wheel. Please checkout both links below, and you can make a decision based on my points above. Please feel free to call us at 844-439-4335 or email us at info@casterhq.com for any additional help as well. I currently have a 40" Craftsman 9-drawer Toolbox. The castor's on the tool box are getting old and need to be replaced. As a Aircraft Mechanic I can be in a hanger or outside mostly on concrete. • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    Hi George, If you are moving your cart outside frequently I would recommend a mold on rubber caster since it has a thick rubber tread that will help absorb shock and vibrations. View the link below, select a diameter and the combination. I would say two swivels and two rigid casters would be your best bet. The larger the wheel, the easier it will be to roll. www.casterhq.com/MoldonRubberCasters-s/270.htm

    Kinda wish you would've touched a bit more on which wheels will be good for long period stationary applications. Which won't develop flat spots as easy.

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    3 жыл бұрын

    Harder wheel materials such as phenolic wheels, steel wheels, polyolefin wheels, and polyurethane on steel wheels are great for long periods of stationary use without developing flat spots. I’d recommend phenolic wheels first as they are the most affordable and offer a very high load capacity. Just don’t get the phenolic wheels too wet.

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Doug, If they are rolled on asphalt driveways I would recommend a Thermo Plastic Rubber Wheel but you won't be able to get the full 1,000 lbs capacity out of these and if those sit with weight for long periods they could flat spot. The only wheel that would work best with this much weight sitting on them for long periods would have to be a harder durometer wheel like a plastic or nylon wheel. Checkout our low profile casters. These might be a good option since they will not flat spot and they will hold a lot of weight. www.casterhq.com/3InchLoProCasterPlate-p/03po30ib3606yz.htm

    May I know what kind of wheel material most suitable for restaurants kitchen cart( slight oily floor) ?Load 250-300kg per wheel. Please advise. Would you recommend 5" or 6" wheel? Thanks

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    4 ай бұрын

    For restaurant kitchens with slightly oily floors and loads of 250-300kg per wheel, thermoplastic rubber (TPR) wheels are ideal due to their oil resistance and smooth operation. A 6" wheel is recommended for better maneuverability and ease of movement over floor imperfections, enhancing cart handling under heavy loads.

    Is PVC better than polyurethane? I need a quiet non marking 5” caster. Is PVC plastic or rubber?

  • @CasterHQ

    @CasterHQ

    4 жыл бұрын

    So the Thermo Plastic Rubber has a softer tread but little less weight capacity, both are non marking. Polyurethane has a slightly harder durometer tread and higher weight capacity, non marking as well but isn't as quiet as a Thermo rubber wheel. It all depends on your application. If you are using these outdoors or in a shop with debris on the ground the rubber wheels are much better at rolling over debris without getting stuck. Polyurethane will sometimes get stuck on debris on the floor. Thank you, Jordan Wilson CasterHQ

    So, im trying to install larger rubber casters on my water cooler at work, it currently has 5" ?phenolic? Wheel Casters on it. With 3" x 2" top plates. I ordered 8" casters 2 lock 2 are ridgid. That have 4 1/2" x 4" top plates. Im wondering if there is an adapter or a plate i can use to install these much larger casters onto my Hessaire swamp cooler? While its in the shop, its fine with what it has on it. But, i have to walk over to a hose thats roughly 60 yds away, over old nasty black top that is very rough. Plus there is a small 1" ish curb i have to roll it up an down. Thats y i got these gnarly like offroad casters. Ne advice or tips would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Scott, so it seems your plate is a lighter duty version since it’s smaller. Since your box is made for a smaller plate you can either return what you ordered and we can set you up with a nice wheel with a matching mounting plate. Or you can look into welding some of our caster pads onto the current section where your casters would go and it will allow you to use your larger casters. Please checkout the link below so you can see what a caster pad is. www.casterhq.com/caster-pad-p/cb-qccp4.htm

    Long story short. Top plate - "2-7/8" x "3-1/4" Max load is 200 lbs. The swamp vooler holds 16 gallons of water. So it will never weigh more than 200 lbs. I go across nasty old rutted/diveted black top to get to the hose to fill it. So, i want casters that can fit my swamp cooler. And are good on very rough cement/black top. So im not spilling alot of the water when rolling it back. I was thinking polyurethane, but those r like rollerblade wheels rite? They may be slightly better than what i currently have? I think i want rubber, not the air up ones. With the correct top plate. Do u guys carry something like this? Or can u custom make them? I would be happy to remove one of my casters that fit it, trace it including holes. And mail it to u guys, or take pictures next to a measuring tape. And the size of the tire honestly doesnt matter. They currently have 5" wheels. But if they r bigger thats fine. The swamp cooler is short. The height doesnt really matter. I was thinking i want 6+" wheels. Up to 10"

    The tool cart is before the horse. Time is rolling by faster than your creeper. Trying to find a tuxedo for a seagull isn't an easy task. All you had to do in the first place was just let him wear the dress, but you have your mind set...

    Hello Caster which one *(need four with lock latches please)* do you recommend for a table saw on built stand weighs 200lb roughly to move around on concrete surface?

    200lbs is a light duty application. I recommend some thermo rubber casters with total locking brakes for your application. A set of 4 holds 1,000 lbs and the TPR Wheel materials will roll over debris out doors with ease. www.casterhq.com/4-INCH-TOTAL-LOCK-p/z26p144nekil.htm Thank you, Jordan Wilson CasterHQ

    Could pneumatic caster wheels be used for a yard cart? Everything I have seen seems to involve wheels on an axle. But I would think 12 inch rugged pneumatic casters would work. I am interested in making my own yard cart and caster wheels seem so much easier. I suppose there must be a reason no one uses them for this purpose.

    Hi Bobby, Yes Pneumatic Caster Wheels can definitely be used on a yard cart. In fact, many outdoor carts including the gorilla cart comes with air filled pneumatic tires but those do run on a shaft. If you want to build your own cart I recommend having 2 fixed pneumatic casters in the back and 2 swivel pneumatic casters in the front. This will allow the cart to roll better in straight lines and maneuver much easier than having all swivel.

    @@CasterHQ Thanks that is exactly what I had planned on doing. Prices seem to vary on these. I am considering 10 to 12 inchwith a load of at least 200lbs each. Like you said the swivels in the front.

    Cheap compared to same industrial types of over priced casters on the market but still very high quality. :)

    @@CasterHQ Maybe. I find it surprising double casters are never mentioned in the video. They are some of the smoothest and easiest-to-use casters out there.
