Around 17 kilometers from the town of Castellaneta in the province of Taranto, Castellaneta Marina lays on the white shorelines of the Ionian Sea, surrounded by Mediterranean Maquis and coniferous woods, sporting a modern golf course in nearby Riva dei Tessali.
Built in the 1960s, this charming summer destination is set across two main roads, Viale dei Pini and Lungomare degli Eroi, where the central Piazza Selene and Piazza Kennedy are a popular night hangout. Vasco Rossi chose Castellaneta Marina as his preferred residence, living in a custom built suite inside a secluded resort by the sea, thus being awarded as “Creative Puglia Honorary Citizen” by the Regional administration.
Surrounded by Bosco Pineto, Castellaneta Marina is one of the most infrastructured sea sites across the Taranto Gulf, with several hotels, B&Bs and resorts. Its sea bottom is quite shallow and crystal clear, the luscious vegetation and typical Mediterranean Maquis hide aromatic bushes crossed by dry-stone walls, with unique fossil dunes.
The coastline sports several beaches, amusement parks, discos and bars, shopping centers, golf courses, horse riding schools, hotels and restaurants. Its beaches are world renowned for their beauty, earning every year the Blue Flag for their clean waters.

A circa 17 chilometri da Castellaneta, Castellaneta Marina, in provincia di Taranto, si adagia lungo placide distese di candidi arenili, circondata dalla macchia mediterranea e da boschi di conifere, e vanta un moderno campo da golf, sorto a Riva dei Tessali.
Nata negli anni Sessanta, la graziosa località si sviluppa tra viale dei Pini e lungomare degli Eroi, raccolta intorno a piazza Selene e piazza Kennedy, popolato ritrovo notturno. Vasco Rossi ha scelto Castellaneta Marina come suo buen ritiro, in una suite di un resort progettata su precise indicazioni del cantante, nominato dalla Regione Puglia “cittadino onorario della Puglia creativa”.
Immersa nel Bosco Pineto, Castellaneta Marina è una località balneare tra le più apprezzate del golfo, grazie ai fondali trasparenti e bassi, i numerosi servizi e le ospitali strutture ricettive. Intorno alla costa, la vegetazione si fa lussureggiante e, tra cespugli aromatici e muretti a secco, si ritrovano le sinuosità delle dune fossili, di grande interesse naturalistico.
Il litorale è dotato di parchi divertimenti, discoteche, centri commerciali, campi da golf, maneggi, hotel e ristoranti, per rendere ancor più gradevole il soggiorno sulle spiagge di sabbia finissima, premiate con la Bandiera Blu.

Two-third of Castellaneta is surrounded by a protected oasis, which spreads over 400 hectares, and it is located 37 km away from Taranto, immersed in nature.
It overlooks a wonderful gravina (ravine) which was the place where farmers took refuge, after escaping from pirates and, over the years, inside its natural caves, they built the hamlet which in 1200 become Città Regia (Towns ruled by the King).
The neighbourhoods Sacco and Muricello inside the historic centre, with their winding and narrow streets, recall the enemies attacks and seem to indicate its inhabitants the escape route. Take a stroll inside the heart of the town and you will arrive in front of its wonderful ancient buildings, such as the Cathedral, the Church of San Domenico, the Palazzo Vescovile and the native house of Rodolfo Valentino, an idol of silent film during the 20s..
The charm of the past echoes off the walls of more than one hundred masserie (farmsteads), which dot the countryside, most of them fortified farmsteads or, going further back in time, off the several rock settlements.

Circondata per due terzi da un’oasi protetta di oltre 400 ettari, Castellaneta è situata a 37 km da Taranto ed è immersa nella natura.
La splendida gravina sulla quale si affaccia fece da rifugio ai contadini in fuga dalle incursioni dei pirati e nel corso del tempo, dalle sue cavità naturali nacque il borgo che nel 1200 divenne Città Regia.
A ricordare i tempi degli attacchi nemici sono ancora oggi i quartieri del centro storico di Sacco e Muricello che con le loro strette e tortuose viuzze sembrano ancora indicare la via di fuga ai suoi abitanti. La passeggiata nel cuore del paese conduce al cospetto delle sue mirabili architetture dalla lunga storia come la Cattedrale, la Chiesa di San Domenico, il Palazzo Vescovile e la casa natale di Rodolfo Valentino, mito intramontabile del cinema muto degli anni ’20.
Il fascino del passato si respira ancora nelle oltre cento masserie che costellano la campagna circostante, molte delle quali fortificate o, ancora più indietro nel tempo, tra i numerosi insediamenti rupestri.
