in India caste system still prevails. even in urban areas if you ask for rent house,people ask you about your caste. if you don't belong to upper caste you'll be denied the house for rent. even if a lower caste boy loves a upper caste girl it's highly perceived sin in the society. Dr B R Ambedkar fought against the system but even his ideas also not being given revere here. still today there are many discrimination happening to lower caste people.

How can a learned man like the professor here, and sociologist, still find courage to defend caste system! It is horrifying..

Plz listen to him carefully, he is not defending caste system, he is just explaining reality of caste system,his job is to tell u wht is caste caste system, not if it is right or wrong, he himself is an atheist,

TN Madan here is a sociologist. The grain of his argument is that caste is an institutional structure with different attributes. He's explaining what caste means. Not whether caste is good or not. Please try to understand things from an inclusive view rather than belittling them.
