Cast Iron Pizza on a Campfire Technique
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Full Instructions on Campfire Pizza Cooking in only 3 minutes! Baking a Deep Dish Cast Iron Pizza on an open fire is one of the greatest camping meals. It can even be done when you dont have a lid!
Heres the Recipe:
2 Cups of Flour
1 Tbsp of Instant Yeast
1 Tbsp of Salt
1 Tbsp of Sugar
1 Tbsp of Olive Oil
1 Tsp of Garlic Powder
3/4 Cup Warm Water.
THATS IT! You can pre-mix all the dry ingredients if you want and then just add the oil and warm water on site.
I didn't have a lid, or a dutch oven with me. So I improvised and used a Rock Lid!
Enjoy!

Ahhaahahah thanks for watching Will!
I was camping with friends years ago, and remember one made a pizza. In my somewhat foggy memory, she had a cast iron pot with lid. She made the pizza in the lid, which she kept steady with sand under it, deep enough to hold the handle upright. When she was ready she upended the pot over the lid w/pizza on it. I believe we had charcoal, which I think she put around and on top of the whole set-up. Was quite good! 😊

It’s the bessst!
That's great
And that campfire build too
Cheese looks doesn't look quite melted but love this idea!
That looks great. Quick question from a rookie camper trying to learn......would a carbon steel pan be much lighter to lug around? Thanks again.

That’s a nice offer, is it a campfire dinner!?
Ooohhh
Love everything except your dough recipe. Try this one. 1 cup plain flour 1 cup buttermilk (powdered milk and water to packet instructions if you don’t have fresh. To 1 cup milk add 1 tablespoon white vinegar to get your buttermilk) Mix. Pour into your oiled and preheated cast iron pan, top it with whatever and cook as you did. Side note, I’ve got coeliac disease and this works exactly the same way gluten free. My sons girlfriend is vegan and it works the same with soy milk (1 tablespoon white vinegar to 1 cup soy milk makes vegan buttermilk)

@@TheBearEssentials crap. Forgot the bi carb soda! Just a teaspoon. (You don’t need baking powder, the bi carb gets its acid from the buttermilk to get the reaction). Massive apologies. I know yours is recreating a traditional pizza, mine is definitely not that. 😂 This also makes great pancakes, scones (you guys call them biscuits I think), scrolls/pinwheels and holds mixed through flavours well, it’s entirely dependent on how much liquid you use. Less for a dough and more for a batter.

@@TheBearEssentials you're also king of knots....sounds like a boss in some souls game...
You had me scared at “deep dish”. Fortunately that’s not what you made. 😂
What!?
Deep dish is a swimming pool for rats, It's lasagna, It's just not pizza
I’m sure there is an easier way

Easier isn’t always better :) But in all seriousness - without a lid, what would you do in this scenario?
