how do you like the Sleipter steel, in comparison to a normal carbon steel? Get the Sleipter sharp as a Mora? greetings from Germany

Hi, so far the Sleipner performs fine. It's not a super steel but I find no problems. It gets sharp. Holds an edge and is strong enough. I wold say it compares to 14C28N and D2 in practical use. The HRC and the grind angle are more important. So in short I like Sleipner a lot. it's a pretty good steel for the price range. What knife do you have in mind? Greetings Wim

The only thing I don't like about this knife is that it has a skeleton tang handle. Which to me weakens the blade under heavy use. I love the casstrom woodsman knife which is my favourite one of there's

The skeletonised handle helps with the balance and overall weight reduction. Casstrom has been selling this model for many years, if the handle would have constituted a weak point, they would have redesigned it by now.

Skeletonized handle isn't an issue at all, When I see people complaining about these kind of things, I know that you're just brainwashed with all the KZread marketing but believe me, with all the respect, that's all nonsense, The only design flaw, that you should complain about, is the 4mm thick stock blade. That's because scandi grinds, for these kind of knives and their intended uses, work with maximum 3mm stock blades. Even a mm, can destroy all the knife's function. That's one of the reasons, of the success of Morakniv and why they are considered some of the best, if not THE best woodworking/bushcraft knives. That's also why, they never made a scandi grind knife ,with a thicker than 3mm blade.

ALL OF THESE COMPANIES ARE FANTASTIC. I HAVE GOT THE CASSTROM AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE JOKER NORDICO AND EMBER. IN GREECE THIS KNIFE COSTS 170€. THE ONLE THING THAT I DON'T LIKE, IT IS THAT YOU PAY A LOT OF MONEY AND YOU HAVE TO PAY EXTRA, FOR THE DANGLER, ANOTHER 24€. OTHER THAN THAT, ALL OF CASSTROM'S KNIVES ARE EXCELLENT. THE BLUE RIVER FROM CONDOR IS AWESOME. I LIKE CONDOR COMPANY AND THIS SPECIFIC ONE, BECAUSE IT REMINDS ME THE NATIVE INDIANS FROM AMERICA. HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU.
