🗣️ - I really like watching Muhammad Ali in this fight. He is 10lbs lighter than he was for the first Liston fight. ... By comparing these two fights you can see the growth in Muhammad Ali's boxing skills... In less than a year, Muhammad Ali would be the Champ 🏆... At the age of 22 years old. ... RIP Muhammad Ali - The Greatest!

Unbelievable that the very same Clay/Ali completely beat the shit out of Liston just a year later, then again after yet a year. Either Doug Jones was a fantastic fighter back then or that Ali improved so much in just a year. Maybe a combination of both...

Clay could be too cocky at times. He got decked by Jones immediately and he got decked by Henry Cooper later in 1963. But he’s not too cocky when fought Liston, he respected Liston and rested his crushing power. I think Liston lay down in that second fight. But the first one was legitimate. Totally.

We saw a much younger George foreman lose to Ali who was less than 50 percent of what he was when he first won the title from Liston. Ali danced circles around sonny while connecting with combinations till the punch induced blindness caused him to quit. Ali was a fraction of himself since the 3 Plus years suspension of 1967, but still took on the hardest puncher George who was 24 years, absorbed all foreman could give and won.

Clay won this fight...but here, the two fighters looked like middleweights!...No real power in their punches, Clay was not as sharp as he was later in his career..and he actually did get hit kinda hard a few times, but showed us that he, even as a 200lb kid, could take a punch. Jones was in his prime here, and was clearly a very good fighter. But Clay showed flashes of his incredible speed, and made it clear that he was going to be a real force to be dealt with. His best fighting weight, IMO, at least eventually, was around 211-214 lbs. The Ali who fought a few years later, weighed in at nearly 220...and had lost some of his lightning speed, but could hit harder than he showed here, as a 202lb kid.
