You are timeless, and the fact that you remain so sweet, humble, and kind after all you've been through is a testament to what a wonderful human being you are. Elvira is an icon for the very reason she tears up at fans support and love of her and the character. Outcasts will always keep integrity with their own, always remember their core and represent. I am Cassandra's age. I remember Vampira from old reruns. The Vampira show ran from April 30, 1954, through to April 2, 1955. One year! Elvira's TV hosting started in 1981 and Elvira is still going. Elvira is nothing like Vampira. Elvira is an original and she is a million times better than Vampira. Cassandra looks great for 65 years. Good one Cassandra. My daughter and I love Elvira. She is like the Gothic Girl Next Door. Love her humour.

Always loved her shows. Boy I am only 61 and she puts me all to shame would never think she was 65! Love her honesty and humble personality.

I fucking love her. I wish she would release a memoir. I'm definitely getting her new book for sure.

Dose anyone remember a tv 79's-80's show called Movie Macob. I want to say at one time Cassandra Peterson, A.K.A. Elvira Mistress Of The Dark. Was the host of the show as The one and only Elvira Mistress Of The Dark. They would show old horror movies. I was a little boy back then. But I remember like it was Yesterday. Me and my Mom and Dad every Saturday night would make popcorn and whatch Elvira. Man I Miss My Mom and Dad. Great memories.

Its unbelievable...this woman is still GORGEOUS!!!!!! I tell you she refuses to age! I have always LOVED and LIVED ELvira...one of the coolest characters of all time. I can remember loving the Mistress of The Dark movie as a kid and they would show it every Halloween though they cut alot of parts out...which as a kid I didnt know until I got older and bought the actual movie. I will always love you Cassandra...thank you for giving us all ELVIRA!

It's a smart move. When the film Clerks unexpectedly got big, Disney offered to buy the characters Jay and Silent Bob from directer Kevin Smith, but he refused the deal because he knew he would lose creative control.

I was very fortunate to see her in person three times, during performances she had done at Knott's Scary Farm in 1973, '74 and '75. She sang and told jokes. I even have a pillow case souvenir with a silk screened photo of her in a reclined position. Boy, does she looked great!! When I first saw her on TV, I fell in love!! And from then on, she was my girl! At her present age, she still looks beautiful!! I'm still in love!! Elvira...Elvira!

She is not only beautiful inside and out but her vibe and charisma are like the vitality of life. Amazing one of a kind special lady.

Vampira came to the screen in 1951 when Elvira was born. Elvira came to the screen in 1981, when I was born =D

She even played as her in plan 9 from outer space and whom, if you watched the show the addams family thecult classic show that came out in the 60s, the addams family, morticia based her look off of her too with just a smaller neck line and normal looking eyebrows. the thing is Vampira and this chicks looks AND personalities are so different it's not even funny. the only one who actually did was morticia and she wasnt even an undead. she could have sued the Addams family for the same thing.

"Elvira's Haunted Hills" is a campy favorite. I have the DVD around somewhere.

Something falls off a ladder she is passing, hitting her on the head... Man: “How’s your head?” He asks with concern. Elvira: “Nobody’s ever complained.” You’ll never hear things like that today without shrieking protesting mobs forming.

Apparently her husband is Mark Pierson. Producer/director that was heavily involved with Cassanda's/Elvira's career. Good to see them keeping it in the family. I can't even imagine how delightful it be to come home to a woman like Cassandra Peterson everyday. What a lucky man Mr. Pierson truly is. Some women are born, live and die, being indescribably beautiful.

She gives an interesting & fun interview, I can tell from the way she talks cassandra is a highly intelligent person. She's more than just Elvira. But she's cool about how she's mostly known for playing that character. I love actors or actresses who are real & humble . much love.

There is ONLY one!!! I saw here this year at Knott's and I just about passed out with joy. She is incredible. I'd go again if the traffic wasn't so awful 5 hours in the car sucked but MAN was she worth it

Happy birthday dear lady. Okay, so I'm a day early. Over the last year I've become a huge Cassandra Peterson fan. I'm fascinated by Cassandra, her life's story, the challenges she's overcome, and her ability to remain such a remarkably humble human being. I'm not really an Elvira fan, nor am I into horror or goth, and I'm not gay. I simply find her amazing. She's become a source of inspiration. I honestly believe this woman has a heart of gold.

Holy shit..driving in ND during blizzards is no joke, at 14 no less! Her story is impressive, she proved herself time and time again. Also, for a 68 year old, shes more coherent, expressive and intelligent than 90 percent of the population, including people less than half her age! Shes a goddamned national treasure! HAVE A SEXY SMART HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

I’m 43 and I’m still in love with Elvira!😍

I met her at Boston Comic Con a few years ago. Just as I got up to her Robin Lord Taylor who was at the both next to hers stopped his line and came over and totally geeked out over her. It was a great moment. She was very nice and spent a few minutes with each person.

I saw her film at a theatre at SEATAC the week it launched...though they scheduled it wrong in paper...so I saw most of it the first time..then got to watch the whole thing again. Loved it then..still love it. Cassie is so amazing. Got to meet her in person in LA...and I never laughed so much iver silly commentary. Gawds I miss that.

I had no idea Mistress of the Dark had been pulled from theatres. I feel so lucky to have seen it on the big screen in Toronto. My parents refused to take me to it, and the lady who was boarding with us took me to the matinee. We had so much fun. I loved it so much I dragged my mother to it a few days later and there were numerous things in it that horrified her, but it didn't dull my appreciation. It did inspire a spontaneous history lesson about the witch trials from my lovely mother who also could not stop shuddering about the sausage joke. Although a comedy, for me I found the dream sequence very spiritual and inspiring. I think it spoke to a magical part of me that wanted to rebel against suburban mundania. I loved her brand of sort of, kind hearted defiance.

I discovered "Elvira" way back when like so many of us...and she is definitely a favorite character...and I do enjoy "Cassy P " too...quite a lovely person on her own...very much a fascinating person in her own right...she made her own luck!

The first time I saw Elvira was on a show called "Real People" where they interviewed her and she showed how she "put on her face" as Elvira. Absolutely love her. And I have her movie, my husband watches it every so often, when he wants to see a great funny movie.

In the late 80s I met Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira she was being interviewed by the San Diego Tribune about the Comic Con. She was so nice and charming and to my surprise a redhead.

I grew up watching the antics of one of the great horror movie hosts, the late John Zacherle. I was fortunate to meet Zacherle several times and he was one of the nicest personalities I ever met, a genuine gentleman. When Elvira came along in the 80's I became a fan of her humor and sexiness. And the first time I saw her as Cassandra Peterson without the Elvira makeup and costume I was amazed at how pretty she was, genuinely pretty in such a natural way. The icing on the cake is that she is also very intelligent, witty and personable. I am glad that her career has been so successful despite over the years, she deserves it. The interview briefly touches on the character Vampira portrayed by Maila Nurmi in Los Angeles in the mid 1950's. She was probably one of the first horror movio hosts if not the first and certainly the first female horror movie host on TV. Vampira did sue Elvira unsuccessfully in the 1980's. In my opinion she should have won. Not that I bear any ill will against Elvira but I do think there were legitimate legal issues. If you would like to know more about Vampira there are clips of "Vampira and Me" on KZread or if you have Amazon Prime you can currently watch it there for free. What I find interesting are the similarities between Vampira and Elvira not just in that they were both female horror hosts wearing sexy black costumes but that they were/are both very intelligent likable women. Also interesting is that while Maila Nurmi owned the Vampira character her show was cancelled by ABC when she refused to sell the successful character to them. Later on in the 80 's when some people approached her about recreating the Vampira character she had creative differences with them and the project fell apart but out of it came the Elvira character. And when Cassandra Peterson assumed the role of Elvira they paid her only $300. a week and there was not much she could do about it because she did NOT own the character. Fortunately her financial situation improved with time. Maila Nurmi lived her life mostly in poverty. "Vampira and Me" shows Maila Nurmi near the end of her life. It's a very interesting story. I also recommend taking a look at "Morticia, Vampira & Elvira" on KZread if the above interests you.

Elvira Mistress of the Dark is one of my favorite movies of all time! Didn't know the history of the movie, but I think that there are many of us that worship that movie. It may underperformed in theaters, but at least I am watching ti at least once a year

I always heard about Elvira but unfortunately growing up in central Indiana she wasn't on in my area so I never got to watch her show,but we did however have our own horror program out of Indianapolis originally called Shock Theater that ran from 1962 to 1989 and showed the old black n white Universal horror movies and many others with a double feature every friday night from 11:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. which was hosted by a goul who went by the name of Sammy Terry who had this really creepy laugh,and I also remember the actor who played Grandpa Munster hosting a horror movie show back in the 1990's.

I still remember watching her first show with great annn- tisss- i- pation as we did not know what to expect from this then new horror movie hostess. She was/is just beautiful when she made her sexy entrance and then when she opened her mouth and started telling all the gags and one liners and jokes ,my little brother and I were hysterical and have been in love with her ever since. I LOVE her original 80's TV show theme music played as she would seductively walk down the corridor. Her orig. theme music would give us the chills and we looked forward to hearing it each weekend. @@Laughing-Eyes She didn't rip off Morticia. She dressed as the UNNAMED Morticia newspaper illustration to a costume party. A TV producer discovered her and asked her to play the character on TV. She said no because she doesn't steal characters, so she came up with her own, which was Vampira. She was the first of this era of scary/sexy women on TV. Morticia Addams on TV played by Carolyn Jones was more so inspired by Vampira more than the simple newspaper illustrations. The story of how Cassandra got the job and was originally going by Vampira in the taping of the first show until Vampira sent the production crew a cease and desist letter after they dumped her from the REVIVAL of the Vampira Show... So they quickly reshot and changed her name to Elvira. She is a thief and opportunist.

She is quite nice to talk to, and we will miss Elvira, Cassandra you made Elvira so lovable
