Another great talent who left us way too soon.
Her voice was the hi- light of the Mama s and Papa's songs. So lovely!
She was such a beautiful person. I wish her life would have been better and longer. Beautiful voice. She made the Mamas and Papas with her personality and voice

Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter had the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Singing voices, I mean. But unlike with Karen, Cass had massive power in her voice.

She did. But unfortunately she was on another diet binge and had dropped a massive amount of weight through starvation. All the yo yo dieting through the years was too much strain on her heart.
She had not only a tremendous voice and talent but had a great personality and just seemed warm and friendly. RIP Mama Cass

Johnny Carson’s mention of Frank and Anne Hummert and their “empire” refers to an important era in radio history. The Hummerts were so powerful that they could dictate to the major networks which actors, announcers, and even which sponsors would be retained for their numerous programs.
such a natural star. she radiated charisma. a magnetic soul~
Cass was gone just 3 months later. Wish we could have had her longer. So much amazing music never made from this genius.

Cass was always so interesting and relateable on talk shows.
I was a 17-yr-old native Huntington Beach surfer studying classical culture in Europe the summer of 1974, just sat down in the University of Paris, sipping my chocolate out of the bowl and my eyes fell onto a French newspaper with the headline that Cass had died. Heartbroken. Great lady with great voice who helped so many artists break through the boardroom door to get into the business. I hope she's in Heaven. MARANATHA

That was pretty much what happened to me. My best friend and his family had to tell me while we were driving on a trip. I had every album or a track by Cass Elliot and the mamas and the Papas. When they told me the news I was choked up in shock tears losing my favorite female vocalist at such an early age.😢
She seemed so fun to be around
Just love her. Great singer. Great group of the 60s xx❤️🇬🇧
Johnny was great. But I always hated how he interrupted some guests. Especially when they were clearly about to launch into a story. He does that here and it's a little disrespectful. But he didn't seem to do that with the old people he had on from time to time. With them, he had infinite patience.

Such an amazing talent and a very cute lady with a wonderful personality! It truly is so unfair that she died at the age of 32. When she did this interview she only had two months, three weeks and one day left of her life. She put her body through hell with yo-yo dieting just to please others. Just like Karen Carpenter who also died at 32, food became the enemy; each for different reasons, but ultimately ending with the world losing two of the most talented female recording artists ever! I wish I could have known both ladies, but with their music, I feel as though I do. May both live forever with the legacy they left for us!!

Mamas and the papas , still great music , the fact she collapsed just a few months before death maybe a tell tale sign even though she said she didnt eat and blood sugar was off , it was problably heart 💜❤️ related also , which ultimately took her life
I remember watching her on a episode of Marcus Welby, about a woman trying to lose weight and how people would assume the worst of her. She was a great actress 👏🏻 ❤
She seems to be friendly and warm. It makes her loss that much worse.
Cedars of Oxnard Johnny was so funny. I was born in Oxnard in 1965. Not the place it once was these days.
Is it just me or did Johnny interupt her quite a bit? He seemed a little tipsy and or being a bit mean to her. (IMO) ~ Love them both and it's crazy she'd pass away nearly 2 months after this was taped. RIP Mama Cass and Johnny
