No histrionics, no embellishments, no vocal acrobatics, just pure voice and melody of this great song flowing from this beautiful woman's mouth and heart. She was one of a kind. Love you Cass, rest in peace dear. And thanks for all of the joy that your singing provided.

Losing Mama Cass and Jim Croce were both very difficult times for me
To dispel a popular, rediculous rumor, Cass did NOT die choking on a ham sandwich. She died in her sleep from a massive heart attack brought on by a series of dangerous "diets" which caused her body to consume itself, including her heart. Awesome young woman, fantastic singer and highly intelligent. She is sadly missed. Jack ~'()'~ Canada

Anyone who would spend just a few minutes watching and listening to Cass in interviews would very quickly find out this was a very intelligent young woman and one of those very rare special people who would change the atmosphere in a room the moment she walked in. She had natural charisma and was a free spirit who knew exactly what she wanted and went out and took it! She was so confident, and never let her weight dictate or limit her dreams and goals. What a voice! Cass was the kind of person you wanted to be around as much as possible! Take care brother Jack ~'()'~ Canada

She shares her experience and makes it universal. Such honesty. A true artist.

Impossibly beautiful. Impossibly sad. I applaud and urge the channel admins to give us superior versions of the wonderful "I'm Coming to the Best Part of my Life" live, from November 73, and the exceptional "My Turn" from late '69. Iconic artist. Classic song.
I wish she had been able to record this exquisite rendering of a great song. I love Cass. 🙂🙃
Our generation was lucky to have her in our lives as a 2:36 wonderful singer and artist and was greatly sadden by her untimely passing truly we have lost an icon
1) The person who wrote this song understood genuine, deep pain and loneliness. THAT is great songwriting. 2) This beautiful soul was a trailblazer who paved the way for some of today’s stars. Being obese in Cass’s day was frowned upon and there was no “body positive” agenda going. Without Cass, we wouldn’t have Adele (or Lizzo). The music world lost a true leader of the arts the night she passed away.

I am proud to be a Cass. 👍 She embraced the beauty of sadness, she echoed a gorgeous, warm, somber sound. The haunting of how she made certain chords come alive will always make me feel satiated, if allbeit, empty, simultaneously.
Mama Cass nails this classic song! Her version is amazing! Cass thought about the words and how to convey the song properly! Pure quality! Cass Eliot could have sang the phone book beautifully! Truly missed and never to be forgotten! RIP Mama Cass. You are loved!
Atomic voice.
In a little while from now If I'm not feeling any less sour I promise myself to treat myself And visit a nearby tower And climbing to the top Will throw myself off In an effort to Make it clear to whoever Wants to know what it's like when you're shattered Left standing in the lurch at a church Were people saying, My God, that's tough She stood him up No point in us remaining We may as well go home As I did on my own Alone again, naturally To think that only yesterday I was cheerful, bright and gay Looking forward to who wouldn't do The role I was about to play But as if to knock me down Reality came around And without so much as a mere touch Cut me into little pieces Leaving me to doubt Talk about, God in His mercy Oh, if he really does exist Why did he desert me In my hour of need I truly am indeed Alone again, naturally It seems to me that There are more hearts broken in the world That can't be mended Left unattended What do we do What do we do Alone again, naturally Looking back over the years And whatever else that appears I remember I cried when my father died Never wishing to hide the tears And at sixty-five years old My mother, God rest her soul Couldn't understand why the only man She had ever loved had been taken Leaving her to start With a heart so badly broken Despite encouragement from me No words were ever spoken And when she passed away I cried and cried all day Alone again, naturally Alone again, naturally
A beautiful rendition of this song. You can tell she really feels the lyrics. This song was such a big hit for Gilbert O'Sullivan in 1972; hard to believe now.
