Yeah I watched it around 1992 on a Casper VHS my mom bought me, I would remember little parts before they happened, like the trees shooting water, and casper tying their feet together. It's crazy how much of this I forgot.

Which version? Paramount/Famous Studios or Harvey TV Films?

I've had seen it on t.v iraq in early 80s its reminds me back my childhood i still watching it as a man 46 years old.

3:45 the whole concept of the tree men is just absolutely bizarre and absurd but it's very effective and tongue in cheek yet still eerie and that menacing epic music motif when they just randomly march in. Their design is also really unique as well and it's also amazing you've found an HD print of this. Thanks a ton :)

I remember these cartoons.

Well it was originally released in 3D, maybe the 3D effect made it more....I'll shut up

Casper could've just told the Tree Men off, then they'd run off in fear, shouting "A GHOST!!"

I don't think they can be scared from Casper, because they are monsters.

The tree men are such a random addition.

The king looks like King Bombo of Blefuscu from Gulliver's Travels (1939).

A race of moon cheese people perhaps?" Writer 2: "Don't be ridiculous, that makes no sense. Obviously it would be the dreaded Tree Men of the Moon." Writer 1: "What?! There are no forests on the moon let alon-" Writer 2: "Tree Men of the Moon! What part do you not get, it's the only logical choice." Writer 1: "But-" Writer 2: "TREE MEN DAMMIT! Now excuse me, but I have a potent cocktail of amphetamines and tranquilizers to abuse in my magic whispering condo."

Yes. That's exactly how the cartoon was constructed.

The other 3D theatrical Famous Studios short, was Popeye, The Ace of Space. Released just months before this short.

Okay. From the first cartoon, we know he can't be killed, yet he somehow ends up getting: Hit by eggs. Blown away. Sprayed by a skunk. Gets his butt torched. Gets run over by a hungry ostrich. Somehow gets captured by aliens. etc. Anything else we need to know?

I knew from the start that Casper can't be killed because he is already dead. The most logic for me was when the bullets went right through him in one cartoon.
