I bought a couple of NDL kegs which had been fitted with the micromatic spear. I believe they have now reverted back to using the DSI spear. They were kind enough to send me replacements, however getting the originals out was a b*****d of a job.

Thanks for sharing all that. Could you point me to your vid for making the spear tool from an adapted coupler?

The well designed one is a DSI spear.

Thanks for Sharing the ins and outs of the keg washes , good job I’ve only got corny ones to clean once in a while. Shame about the spears hope the company realises the issues, then sorts it out in the future. Cheers

Couldn't you rinse, clean and refil without taking the spear out? All through the coupler?

Not with my washer. I did try but you need air or co2 to blow them out between each cycle. This is much easier.

@@harrybrew69 makes sense. I remember one of your early vids showing the cleaning of sanky kegs upside down through the coupler.

@@harrybrew69 would it save water to fill the tub once, use the that water to rinse then drain away, refill for caustic rince

@@davidmullins1270 I'm not sure it would be a proper rinse if I were to recylce the rinse water. If there is any caustic making it over to the acid tank the acid would be neaturalised and therefore useless. Always rinse to waste in my book.
