    I'm a little late to the party, but I just have to add my 2 cents. I'm a diver, and I use my MRW200H when I dive. Unidirectional bezels may have been a safety feature decades ago (I'm still not convinced), but we use dive computers for all the critical stuff now. We write out our dive plan and take it down with us, and the only time I use the bezel on my watch is when I'm decompressing, and a unidirectional bezel (ie, like on my MDV106 when I go on deeper dives) can be inconvenient, especially if you have multiple decompression stops with differing decompression times. "What if your computer fails?" Then there are still analogue gauges and the written dive plan that you write down in two separate places (if you're smart). If both the dive computer and the needle gauges fail, then the dive is aborted and you start back up with your dive buddy who will probably still have functioning equipment. TLDR; Unidirectional bezels aren't as 'diver' as some/most 'divers' think.

    The specs on the Casio site say "resin glass", so nope, no mineral glass... just some plastic, and I can confirm they scratch really easily, but that's not a huge problem, they can be polished, and for the price, there is really nothing to complain about!

    Great Review for this watch!! Best one I’ve come across Online... I’ve been thinking of getting one for awhile and this review reaffirms my decision to get one... I wish it was backlit/ indiglo and it would have been perfect for me. Day Date + clear markings ( with 24 hrs) and the Rotary dial... love it!!

    I don't know man. I had this thing for two years as a male teenager with a manual labor job, never missed a beat. The only reason I don't have it today is because I got bored and purposely destroyed it, doing things like; using a drill to slap it crystal first into a chain link fence, letting my dog chew on it, and using a hair dryer to warm it up before putting it in a ice bath. Nothing destroyed it until I cheated and took off the cover plate to "examine" the movement (rather small movement btw). Honestly unless it is defective I doubt that most people can break it on accident.

  • @JohnDoe-fg9rp

    @JohnDoe-fg9rp

    Honestly, the only people I knew at the time who would want to wear a watch already had a watch they liked that was in far better shape than mine. The crystal was so scratched it was getting hard to read and was beyond ugly, but still functional. I understand your sentiment, but at the end of the day I got two years of service and then about an hour of fun out of it. I know I have wasted $12 on worse things.

    I've got the green dial version. Keeps really excellent time. Also, for that price to have water resistance to 100m is remarkable. Shower with it on absolutely no trouble. Lume isn't great, but viewable. The bi-directional bevel is a bit clunky too. But ,for value can't really fault it.

    I'm glad you made this review! I was on the fence about getting one, but after seeing a NATO strap on one of your Casios, I'm definitely going to get mine. I'm aiming for the MRW-200H-1B2V (what some call the 'black model'). I'd prefer having numerals all around that dial face, but it'd look a bit too busy for me, what with all the fat arabics. The 1B2V I think has the best compromise, as I'm not keen on having pips/dots. This is going to be my first 'project' watch and I'll use it as my daily beater. I plan on swapping the resin band for a Zulu one. Buying this Casio + new strap would set me back about $22. Thanks again! (Update: I bought a NATO strap instead)

    @rudy_ariff

    @@mileage43 hi Michael! Glad you asked! The strap I bought cost me about $6, give or take and is comfortable enough for me. It comes with stainless steel buckles with a black PVD finish. This type of strap is definitely a lot more breathable compared to the original straps (I heard some people get rashes due to the plastic/rubber material. I had the "calculator" digital Casio previously, and after 2 years, the straps split). But, if you live in a hot, humid area and tend to sweat a lot, these straps could get dirty (and smelly) after a while. I have a Seiko SNK809 that has a nylon strap; after a few days I'll have to put some detergent on the straps, use an old toothbrush and scrub it under a tap. This new NATO strap is definitely an upgrade in looks and comfort, for me at least 👍🏻 Edit: due to the lockdown, I haven't been able to put it through a "normal" workday, so only time will tell if it's durable or not. There are many straps that are higher priced than mine; they may offer better comfort, durability and colour retention. If things turn out bad, at least I can still re-use the original straps 😉

    @@AnonAnonAnon hi there! The strap size is 18mm. Hopefully you already have a springbar tool if you plan on changing straps by yourself. Do wear some eye protection just in case, the springbar may pop out and fly. Some strap sellers may include a springbar tool and extra springbars as part of their sales package. Or you could ask a friend with experience to do it for you. It shouldn't be too difficult but I was frustrated doing it the first time. Hope this info helps!

    Leave it to Casio to make 15$ diver watch that actually works. There are videos on YT where it is used for diving trips and works like a charm. Only problem (as is often the case with Casio watches) is the cheap and sweaty plastic strap that is prone to break sooner rather than later. I strongly recommend using NATO/nylon straps instead. Looks much better too.

  • @kennguyen9016

    @kennguyen9016

    It's a very tight fit, you won't be able to slide the strap under. What you do is put the strap exactly where you want it to be, then use your finger or something to push it against the lug. That will leave just barely enough space for you to push the spring bar in until it snaps into the holes. The strap will not budge once it's locked in, you will have to take out the spring bars to adjust it. Remember to hold the spring bars tight or it might shoot off because of the tight fit. Took me a while with the phone flash light to find mine after it snaps off.

    Nice review, but unless you got some weird variation, both that I own are plastic/acrylic crystals. No biggie as they polish well if scratched. Bezel pops off and on which makes polishing easier. Great beater for $15!

    There was no listing on the Casio website in the product description as to the type of crystal, but on the Amazon website it is listed as mineral crystal, and we all know Amazon doesn't always have the correct info on their listings. So, that's where I found that info, sorry for the error.

    @@JustBlueFish Hey, no worries, Guy. It actually sounds like glass if you tap it with a ring, etc. I polish mine out with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and/or Ultimate Polish when they get scratched. There are also plastic polishes which work well. BTW, the movement is a Miyota. Thanks for your videos!

    updated : i actually buy this watch. my personal opinion if you can found q&q vr18. better looks for it. yes the bezel for q&q vr18 is not rotating. but the quality if q&q movement is above casio. the movement is almost perfect on every minutes mark on the dial. i believe this due to miyota 2035 movement from citizen on the q&q. don't get me wrong gshock is a legend. but for cheap quartz watch, go for q&q.

    It's a tight fit. Take the springbars off, lay the strap on the watch where you want it, then place the springbars back on. It's mildly annoying but doable.

    I have one that I just purchased from Big 5. Paid $30 dollars which overpriced compared to what others paid. I wanted the black watch that you have and purchased it from Amazon but they sent me one with a yellowish bezel which I don't like. So I went to Big 5 and found the one I wanted and purchased it but at least I got the one I wanted!

    i got a duro and its so much nicer for 48.00, i would rather be able to get it dunked than to have to replace it because someone thought it was water resistant and found out after being pushed into the pool or lake or whatever, and compared to this it has a single direction bezel and screw down crown and compared to this watch its like comparing a timex to a seiko
