so the main differences are 1. the model numbers are different. 2. the bracelet has "gaps" and isn't very flexible. 3. ironically the real deal is made in China and the fake one in another country. 4. the clip is made in Japan on the fake one and the original is made in China. 5. and on the end of it it's made in one piece though the original has two. 6. and the clips aren't removable unlike on the original. I hope I was clear, I'm not english. :) And do these differences apply to the Casio a158wa as well? Thanks

+Mizzcutieboo here's a trick for any gold tone watch u dont want o fade. take clear nail polish, and apply on the bottom gold part of the watch that will touch your skin. that will protect it from fading.

i learnt that from another video that said if you press all the buttons of the watch the real one will shows CASIO on the dial and the fake one doesnt do that. i really want to get the gold one i already got the silver a 168 one of the biggest down side is the bracelet pulls my hair and i dont like how its lowkey making my wrist bald.

A good way to tell if it's real is to hold the button that changes the time format from 12h to 24h and it should say "Casio" on the LCD after a few seconds. This is not the case with all Casio models but for this model it is.

Very good detailed review. I agree, the first A168WG-9 is fake. One other sure way to know if a Casio A168 is fake is if you hold the right button for 4-5 seconds (not available on some Casio models). It should display the Casio brand. Just an added info. You really can't it based on the Casio box. Some sellers ran out of Casio boxes that's why they replace it with what's available.

Received the silver one from Amazon today, but the LED is incredibly dim and only my comes from the left side. Do I have a fake? It seems to be different model from the one in the video though.

This is a very informative video. I'm about to buy one and appreciate the insights. I wonder if the weight of real and fake are different? This could be another tell-tale sign.

Got the silver metal one of Amazon this week, still came in a cheap metal tin and included the wrong manual. Mine has the 'Made in China' all over it and serials on the top of the strap pinss. Even the official ones are made to a fairly cheap standard with the watch housing being a shiny resin against the more matte silver strap

bought the silver one at wal-mart 3 weeks ago for $20, i do like the gold better though

I am very skeptical about purchasing watches on ebay. I once purchased a watch from a person in India on ebay. Needless to say the watch did not work and I had to get it repaired, something I shouldn't had to do. Because of this I don't do watches on ebay. The sellers lie all the time in order to get you to buy their products on ebay, and you would think that the ebay staff would do more to eliminate these fraudsters. Hey bro some of the real Casio watches don’t have the clip holes on the side to remove the band. That’s why if you check underneath the link that is attached to watch face, the two sides are cut off exposing the part of the pin that you can pull back to remove the band/ bands..

Deng mine does read Casio when I long press the 24hr button BUT, there are no strap replacement holes on the sides! Ugggh.

Ok, My story. I just purchased two of these on Ebay (Melbourne Australian seller). Prior to purchase I asked if they are genuine Casio and seller replied that he trusts his source. Anyway, the two watches arrive. I take them to the watch store next to my workplace (it's the QLD Casio service centre), and after inspections, I'm told they're fake - REPLICAS. I wasn't surprised. I ended up getting a partial refund from the seller so I'm not too worried. Anyway, next story: I went shopping wearing one of these fake gold casios. Within one hour I had two random people chatting to me. The first was a guy who wanted me to tell him the time (this has never happened before) and the second was a female cashier who had never noticed me before, but while I was wearing this watch she wanted to know about how I was feeling, how my day was, and all this other stuff. My take on this is that: 1. if these watches sell for under $30 they are copies and not authentic; and 2. if a guy wears a watch that is gold in colour, the money-hungry predators will pounce on you in the hope that they'll get something out of you ... ha ha it's just a cheap fake watch

you can remove the band to case connection pin on the fake watch. It is a spring loaded pin that can be removed from the underside of the connection point on the casing. Just compress one end of pin and slide out from casing.

At 16:32 you can see the border line around the faces is slightly "wider" on the fake, apologies if someone's already said this.

I don’t think there is a fake one here man. We have to understand that manufacturing and assembling in these countries have minor diffferences in one thing, they will never be perfectly the same specially for watches like this cheap. But it doesn’t mean they are not genuine. I don’t know, but there is a genuine Casio watch made in Malaysia.

I dunno about you guys but it's not s hublot, there's like a tiny differences between them. I'd keep the fake one. If it was a horrible knock-off then yeah I'd understand but they're very very similar. Wouldn't buy again though.

The real ones cost like 30 euro's but i couldnt find the model i was looking for in the stores. Never trust ebayers and if you can afford buying from respected source, please do so! Angel Gomez Problem is if they are using Amazon fulfillment, Amazon will often co-mingle stock from different supplies. There was a big problem with this and SanDisk Micro SD cards a few years back. Lots of folks were being sold fakes even from reputable sellers.

I got mine in granka and I asked the seller. It was a legit shop okay. And I wanted to ask him if it was a real Casio or a fake. He told me that for such a inexpensive watch it was no point selling a fake. But it’s obviously a huge market out there for fake inexpensive Casio. I don’t get it

Worse build quality doesn't really mean that it's fake, different factories, materials, etc. Also it can have any kind of stickers, depends from the country it came from.

Thanks for the comparison video. That's why I kind of stay away from ebay when I brose for watches. We can trust Amazon for authentics more. Not saying that 100% in Amazon are authentic but in most cases, it is. Btw how is the Authentic holding up? Does the gold stay even if you wear it often or does it rub off?

+Mark I had it for almost 3yrs, I got it from American Aperel, it's original from casio, really doubt American aperal would sell knock off watches, but it's a really good watch, very durable, and it's a classic so you will get ask often about it, especially from old folks. (I wear it even day since I got it)

would just like to add my 2 cents as I used to collect Casio watches. It is still likely that the gold watch may be real and not a fake. Casio has factories in Japan(usually higher end pieces made here), Thailand, and Malaysia. It is very likely that the quality control at the Malaysian factory is not as good as that of the Chinese factory. I also noticed that the endlink just before the clasp on the gold watch was different than that of the silver watch, which would be a red flag but I cannot say for sure. One way to find out if it is real would be to open both watches and compare the internals. These watches run the same internals and should be identical inside.

The one he identified as fake didn’t have drilled lugs. I agree with what you’re saying in principle, but that’s more than a Q/C issue.

Even tho it was fake did it still say "Casio" after holding down the bottom right button for 3 seconds? I heard that was a surefire way to check if they were legit but i'm still skeptical.

i think what happened was casio went to a manufacturer in malaysia to make the watch, and maybe they switched back to china, this is possible. its probably genuine just from a different company or factory

+Francisco Reyes I believe Amazon Casios are authentic. Just make sure it is "sold and fulfilled by amazon" I was actually browsing watches lately in amazon. That's one reason why I kind of stay away from Ebay when it comes to watches but shoes, as long as you do the research like Jordans

i bought the gold one for like 15 dlls so i tough it was real beacuse i Bligh the ailver one for like 10 dlls and that was real, then doing some research i firgured out the gold was fake becauae of the bracelet but in the other hand it does say casio if you push for 5 aeconsa the right button, so dont trust that thing even a fake casio can display the word

the real one got holes in the case for wristband change , at the fake they are missing .
