    Finally! Signal Received! My Casio GWM5610U came yesterday July 22, 2022. I ordered from Amazon and I was very exited to test the multiband 6 function. After manually attempting to get the signal, I kept getting the error message. I found a video about amplifying the signal by placing the watch on a bicycle or metal large frame and got some L1 and L2 signal and after a few minutes the error message again. I then tried positioning it facing northwest by a window (facing Fort Collins, Colorado where the signal comes from) and I was able to reach L3 temporarily but then error again. It was very late, so I tried wearing it overnight to see if my body would amplify the signal and automatically eventually sync (following advice from another KZread video) but that didn’t work either. Success came when I stepped outside this morning and sat my watch on a beach Tommy Bahama foldable chair, the watch facing northwest. The watch displayed connectivity with L2 and L3 switching back and forth and after about 4 minutes it finally happened! It felt magical and I’m not sure if I’m going crazy due to the lack of sleep. I hope this helps someone out there.

    In your case, it will sync during the night for sure in that place where you temporarily reach L3. I live 2000KM from DCF 77 and during the day there is no chance to sync, but almost every night my watches succeed the sync. Not every night, but most of them.

    Much obliged for this great tip! I'm in the Philippines. After failing a few times using the defaults settings of Clock Wave, I changed my IPhone's time zone to HK. Heck, I even changed the "Language/Region" to HK. Again at first, I experienced the same problems like some of those who commented here --- getting the "ERR" message even though the signal level was boosted to L3. I've made at least 10 attempts from 17:00hrs onwards and it all failed. Then the last attempt was made at 15mins before midnight, with no other equipment running (laptop, tv, etc). To my surprise, the darn thing synced! This just may be a fluke or the emulator somehow boosted the weak atomic clock signal I get outside the house. After all, the Casio manual did state that time adjustments are usually performed between midnight and 0500. So again, thank you for guiding us in into this app my friend.

    It's probably time (no pun intended!) that Casio changed from this low frequency time syncing stuff which is pretty old school and went with GPS / internet time syncing that works for all models. It would work everywhere in the world and wouldn't be that hard to fit GPS into a watch surely? I know you can sync from a smartphone using an app for some models of G-Shock - it would be great if Casio put out an to convert the GPS time signal or just use the internet time from a smartphone to a low frequency time signal the watch could sync to like these apps but an offical Casio app :) Thanks for the video! Cheers buddy... well the atomic radio sync is direct to the watch, using its own copper coil inside as the antenna, thus will be perfectly calibrated... with regards to the phone and say bluetooth, it'll always have that lag through transmitting, because it's not direct as such, it has a third part between.... the clever way would be to have the App offset to calculate the difference, it's usually just a little behind, so a little tweak to the App to compensate this would work i'm sure... but we are talking a nano second if that. All my atomic watches sync like an Olympic Gold Synchronised Swimmers event, while the bluetooth sync'ers are out by a fraction, it's the Bluetooth delay, and again, why CASIO haven't compensated for this with a tweak I don't know... the youthful brains may have intelligence at CASIO, but thinking a little out of the box would iron things perfectly. Hope that helps my friend :)

    Hi all. New to gshock with my rangeman 9400. Very informative video so thank you. I am not here to crash your video. I am in Texas USA and I did some experiment and want to share my result on atomic sync. I was not able to get my watch to sync. I wanted to know if my new watch is broken, so I started googling and doing different tests. Like mentioned I hung the watch on my bike handlebar and got it to sync. What I discovered is that if my watch is placed sideway, it will not sync. If my watch is facing up or down (watch face either pointing up or down), it sync 100% no matter where it is in the house. I have tested this for 7 days placing the watch in different location with watch facing up or down and got atomic sync 100%. I hope this help someone with rangeman 9400.

    The Casio Bluetooth watches use a similar system except the pulses are sent via Bluetooth to the watch. That system works well enough if you have a Bluetooth watch. Some watches have Multiband 6 and Bluetooth. In tests there was no difference in the time when synchronised directly via radio signals or via Bluetooth and the phone. This is to be expected as the mobile phone networks across the globe are synchronised to atomic clocks. The dedicated Casio app does compensate for network propagation delays, so at most your watch will be 100mS slow compared to the actual time. Not enough for most people to detect without specialist equipment.

  • @WatchUP69MrRangeman

    @WatchUP69MrRangeman

    Hi... the frequency uses the speakers in your device as an antenna, and increasing the volume helps with producing more current to the coils in the speakers which will give a stronger signal. The signal is broken down into segments with pauses in between, and depending on the signal pulses equals to the information like date, leap year, seconds, minutes, hours, month, day and of course the actual year, and this code is translated to the watch which make the magic happen. Hope that helps :))

    You might want to pop a 47ohm resistor in series with the antenna, as you are effectively shorting out the amplifier in your phone. I mean it's not absolutely shorting it out, due to the relation of inductance and frequency, however it probably won't be doing it any good long-term. I find 47ohm is a fair compromise and allows the signal to be cleaner.

The app is running my current local time and transmitting that to the watch in the form of the emitter from japan. When I first synced it, my local time became japan time and my india was completely off ( but naturally!) then i had to switch my phone to japan time and synced it again and it worked! This really puzzles me. I would assume the app would immediately switcb to japan time if i selected the japan transmitter but no, it didn’t. I found that quite funny !

    I thought the apps would solve the issue for me living in Melbourne, southern part of Australia. But there are a few downsides I find. Firstly, the watch needs to be set to a home city that is able to synchronise, unfortunately there are no AEST cities included. The home city that is set up up to synchronise that i can use is Tokyo. So i get synchronised time to Tokyo time! Which means I then have to go in and reset the home city back to Sydney/AEST. Also, the time you are synchronising to is mobile phone network time not the super accurate atomic time so that benefit is also lost. So all in all its just as easy, if not faster to adjust the time manually against whatever time source takes your fancy. I have compared several atomic clock apps and they do not show the same time and can vary by several seconds. The synch to the internet must affect their accuracy to some extent too. All in all a direct and automated RC connection to an atomic clock in your time zone is a great feature, even if you can somehow boost the signal. Otherwise not sure there’s any great benefit of an emulator app. There are also free apps available. Search the App Store. I have been using clock wave and it does work very well.

    Cheers for your input, and I agree there is a slight fuss and it's not pin point atomic accurate, but for a millisecond it's not bad, also there are users who are really wanting the watch to do everything possible, and on some G-Shocks for example they have a signal indicator to notify the atomic sync was successful... so it has another side if not fully for you. Now, what I'd like to see, is the home Wi-Fi router to have the atomic frequency, I've seen this being done via a laptop and some circuitry so it's possible... oddly I can't find that video??? Now that would be an idea hey, and you don't have to get involved. In some countries Clock Wave has a price on it now! I guess doing it every two weeks keeps you pretty close to atomic time... cheers again for your feedback :)

    I also live in the Sydney time zone. I have a friend who has an 11 year old Casio watch with atomic time. It had become 2 minutes out because he had not synced it since last he was in London. He also didn't know how to set it manually. We swapped watches for a week and I had a go at his. I downloaded an app on an Android phone, as that is what he has. I managed to sync it using the app. I had to set the home time zone to Tokyo. Then after syncing, I changed the home zone back to Sydney, but that changed the time by an hour. So now the watch was correct to the second, but out by an hour. So I gave up and reset it manually. As far as I can make out, good quality Casio watches are really quite accurate, and I am happy to reset my seconds every month. I have 3 analog watches that require the date to be changed 5 times per year anyway. But since Casio quotes +- 15 seconds per month (for the better watches), I am interested in comparing my monthly discrepancy with that. Then I thought about a Bluetooth watch. I think that feature is useful for Edifice analog watches as they are so hard to set. But for any Casio watch with digital, they are easy to set and don't really need Multiband 6 or Bluetooth. The only thing I would like to recommend, and I do have this on a analog/digital model, is to have seconds to be the first thing to change when scrolling through the long list of parameters that can be changed.

    I meant for the routers to have atomic signal included in them running together with Wi-Fi... that would be a good idea. I watched a video not so long ago with someone who made a plug and go device that uses the time from his laptop to transmit a signal... looked like a lot of parts, but it worked a treat, so can be done. I've tried to look for that video, but now seen their channel is gone??? I guess his idea was too creative?

    @@WatchUP69MrRangeman It would increase a price for a router by a lot. And ask yourself how many people does own atomic watch :D I guess no one cares. Most of the time where I live(east Slovakia), I can get my watch sync up (around 03:00). And I live in steel-concrete building, watch is on my bedside table in middle of the room. They (Casio) should probably add that (sound modulation) to their app and make some instructions video for customers, it wouldn't cost much and would be much more reasonable thing to do. That router idea is kinda ridiculous for reasons I mentioned above.

    the problem with the signal going through the services of a smart phone is the accuracy of the time signal to the time piece that is receiving it....there may be a slight lag and you may not have precise time accuracy. If you are a few seconds off, then no big deal, but to those who have OCD and everything in their lives have to be precise and exact, well, they may commit suicide due to the few mili-second lags.... I could deal with it, but they can't.

    The phone networks are very precisely synchronised to the atomic clock. It is how they determine which cell tower to use for your phone and other positional data. Rest assured the time will be out by no more than 100mS even allowing for phone computing time.

    I agree, but one side that is a positive is the fact you can test to see if the MB6 works, and this is more for those who are outside the atomic reach. You also never know especially on those early G-Shocks that have been taken apart, if the antenna has been damaged. Also if you’re selling an atomic watch again living outside the atomic range, at least you can say with honesty that it’s fully working. Just a few things to think about, but you are right, much quicker to set manually. Just a thought, maybe some like to see the success icon shown, and one example is on the GWF-D1000 Frogman that has the letter ‘G’ shown in the centre of the sub-dial when it has received a sync. Looks empty when there’s no ‘G’ Cheers

    Technically yes, but is still using atomic precision... this app would have such a tiny delay difference of probably about 0.002sec that would wouldn't really notice the difference unless you're so OTT OVD about it... it's an app that maybe not work for you, but for others who don't have such timing to push a button to sync with the atomic clock manually, this is their lifeline... or maybe for someone who has multiple of atomic watches that need updating say each month, then building a larger antenna like mine would make this happen... and also remember that the atomic signal isn't reached to every country like in Australia. There are many way that someone would use such an app... but for say me or you, we would just adjust this manually, but if you cock it up on the first attempt, then that's another minute you need to wait for. Have a look at this watch... it's an automatic watch that comes with it's own atomic clock that adjusts it automatically kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6N1tsOFn6u_Z5M.html
