I just got back fto. 3 weeks in havana. Some, even the older ones step back sometimes. Even my eldest teacher is a proponent of back stepping vs forcing a forward stepas it is more comfortable for her.

@@shaolin1derpalm everyone inside of Cuba dances casino differently. And yes, there are people who do backstepping, which is logical considering that Casino comes from Son Urbano. But the thing is, the problem is not backstepping but how people approach it. If you do the backstepping incorrectly, you end up dancing Cumbia and not Casino (which is the most common thing nowadays). Another thing to consider is that women approach backstepping different than men (that's something people would rarely explain).
