Sad day when they closed down the Meltham factory in 1986. But good to see some of my filming and editing on KZread after all these years. The voice over was done by Redvers Kyle from YTV and halfway through Alan Sykes from BBC Radio Manchester is heard. Also good to see Graham Wells driving the tractor with his signature Deer Stalker hat at 17:24 , we had great times filming these out in the field and lunch times in the pub near Methley, Wakefield. I remember editing with a very early caption generator seen in this video...

I love vintage tractors and old videos thanks for uploading this video sir
These type of videos are gold. Sadly british tractor manufacturing has seen it's best days. Only Basildon New holland factory remains and JCB factory's

My father owned the 1594. He borrowed the 990 to begin farming.
thanks for sharing, very interesting to watch
My Aunt and Uncle used to live right across the road where the completed tractors came out of the factory. some used to go to Shaw Packaging for export. For a country boy of 5 it was always a holiday I looked forward to and enjoyed. My uncle Frank worked in David Brown Transmissions in Huddersfield which I think is still there but I could well be wrong? Thanks for uploading the video, I have at long last been able to see what went on behind the walls! 😀
David Brown are the best tractor ever made I would love one but I don't have one cuz I'm 12 but my 2nd cousin restores them and he has a dB 885, 1390 bought brand new in 83, two 1394s one red the other black and orange, a 1594 red and a 1690 theyre all class

I have a Case 1294 from 85 it's not been treated so we'll after sitting in a barn for 10-20 years the previous owners then got it out and fixed up but it is missing a few parts and components mainly the electrics i am missing the windwash system as of right now, the gas struts for the roofhatch are missing, the hood has a dent on front from something falling on it, it also damaged the pipe on the air filter box so they put a plastic 75mm pipe on and glued it on with silicone i am working on fixing the tractor to it's glory it will be a slow process but i will get there one day i'm an 18 year old college student and i have loved tractors since i was 5 years old a friend of mine has the same tractor as me all in original it is in better shape than mine mostly but the mudguards are more beaten up than on mine i also need a det of door mirrors and arms for it then it should be completed 😁
I wish for david brown to come back

How many hours you got in it? We just bought 1694 with 2900hrs. It needs a bit new liners in the cabin and paintjob done, for being left outside for last 10years. We haven't yet decided if it's a keeper.

Farm Ive been working at since I was 16 has three 1494s (of four total). Excellent units except for finding parts and knowledgeable nowadays is pretty tough, especially here in the US, and the fact that there are no nearby Case dealers in my part of Pennsylvania.

Case ih never should have closed the David Brown factory . They gave up on the Case line way to easy .

David Brown were very good tractors. My uncle (Hesse, Germany) had two of them, when I was a child in the sixties... To give up the plant of DB is the same tragedy as the closing of IH in Neuss, Germany or Banner Line in Coventry... But it's history...
This video is almost comes across as a dedication video to all the people who worked at the factory. As it less than a year before they stopped manufacturing. It's sad to think that David Brown was working on the 94 series replacement, the P100 prototype, which became the Case Maxxum 5100 series
Ancestor of the Maxxum series, that I loved in the 90s.
Good day from Ont. Canada Very good video Thanks
How this country has declined we once made the finest tractors in the world now we make hardly anything .
Thanks for movie :)
80's techo music. Sad to realise that within a couple of years all the people in this film would be made redundant.
At 12:20 of vid reduction assembly, it look like Jeremy Clarkson help British manufacturing LOL, great vid👍 at cab assembly 15:38 I love 💕 poster through cab on back wall NICE.

If only the bank of England had of had the money to lend David brown the money to buy case ih in the early 80's. Unfortunately the bank didn't have the money as the country was broke
Nice
Change up with CASE you can
Beautiful I want to purchase
So, what's the difference between 1455 xl and 94 series?
Is this the 1980s?
Imagine, paint that is baked on so it will not flake, peel or scratch off with a fingernail instead of powder coat junk.
It’s def early 86 only made the 1694 in 86 my 1694 has the later front rims and she’s 290 out of 330 made

Have you managed to find a workshop book for the tractor ? There should be both the workshop and operator's manual available on the internet, i got the operator's manual for my 1294, i got the workshop manual too but i need to print it too, made good use of it when i got the injectors reconditioned and needed to find the torque spec for them 😄

never understood why case sprayed them red when the tractors were traded back in when they first left the factory they were white black body an orange wheels then when people traded them back in case sprayed them red an black rims shame really
Case took over David Brown, and then closed it down. I don't like Case.
I own a 1594 4wd with hydrospactic transmission. Its a heap of shit. Bad investment.
