CarwashPlus: Haarlem Site

Ғылым және технология

CarwashPlus built their first location in Haarlem in 2010. It is one of the largest car washes in the Netherlands.
Initially, the site opened with just the left tunnel, and it was configured with a prep gun area before the polish arch. They needed additional capacity and installed a second (right) tunnel and removed the mid-tunnel prep gun around 2014.
Both tunnels had 60m long Peco conveyors at the time of filming. However, they have since been replaced with Holz dual chain conveyors. The current tunnel configuration has 2 sets of Holz PE196 wheel brushes, a 4 manifold Mega-Power arch, a Volume Plus top manifold, high volume side followers, 2 standard Holz top brushes, Holz standard and trailing wraps, PE118 and PE163 side washers, PE250 grill brushes, 2 pairs of pivoting 5 nozzle wheel blasters (the right tunnel has 1 set of pivoting wheel blasters and 1 pair of fixed horizontal wheel blasters instead), an ACE Carwash Systems TV display arch, a 1-basket side to side mini mitter for polishing, 4 producer drying system, and a drying spec wrap/top brush combo for textile drying. Almost all the equipment is outfitted with Brushcom materials, including MicroAct cloth, MicroWash on the mitters, and Hybrid+ material on the first top brushes. CarwashPlus uses Caramba and NCS Vehicle Care chemicals, and their top wash includes the first and second lava bath, polish application, double wheel cleaning, and underbody, with Rain-X available as an upgrade.

This one's a beauty. Any automatic car eash outside the US knows what a car wash should be.

Well, not just any. Those washes over in East Asia are like a pack of gum with nine brushes in it. The Germans and the Dutch have quite the gallery of carwashes though! My problem with American washes these days (and I say this as an America) is this trend to black out the tunnels (black walls, black brushes, etc.) to bring out the light show. The best looking washes tend to have big windows instead of looking like caves.

Wow the chemistry is different than most North American washes. The first lava bath is rinsed off right away with high pressure and the second lava bath, although not rinsed off right away, didn't leave the vehicle visibly covered in a crazy amount of foam. Even if the wash package doesn't include the first lava bath, the soapy water pre rinse in the very beginning is still rinsed off with high pressure water. Yet clearly no one over there minds and vehicles must not be getting damaged from the brushes as they needed to expand and build a second tunnel to keep up with demand. Interesting to see a different perspective on chemistry.

I did a trip to the Netherlands and Belgium to attend the Car Wash Show Europe and visit a bunch of washes recently. Going to try to go to Germany (and maybe Austria) next year.
